About Jwtauditormcp
JWT Auditor MCP Server provides local JWT auditing tools for security testing, including decoding and analysis, attempts to crack symmetric secrets, and token generation or editing. Tokens and secrets are not sent to external services.
Key features
- 01Decode JWT headers, payloads, and signatures
- 02Detect algorithm, claim, and other security issues
- 03Try dictionary-based cracking of HMAC secrets
- 04Generate and edit HS* and RS* JWTs
Use cases
- 01Inspect JWT contents and potential vulnerabilities
- 02Test symmetric signing-secret strength with a wordlist
- 03Create or modify JWTs for testing
MCP support
The MCP server exposes JWT decoding, auditing, secret testing, and generation tools to clients such as Claude Desktop and Cursor. Token operations run locally.
Configuration
Local server config is the same for every client. Copy it into your client’s MCP config file.
We haven’t collected a package or remote endpoint for this server. Follow the instructions in the project README.
Tools
Local servers expose tools only once running on your machine, and the maintainer has not provided a tool list.
Details
From the project READMEJWT Auditor MCP Server
This project provides an MCP server exposing advanced JWT auditing tools, inspired by JWTAuditor. It is designed for use with Claude Desktop, Cursor, and other MCP-compatible clients.
Features
- JWT Decoder: Decodes JWT header, payload, and signature.
- JWT Analyzer: Detects vulnerabilities (alg=none, weak algs, missing claims, header injection, sensitive data, etc.).
- JWT Secret Bruteforcer: Attempts to brute-force HS256/HS384/HS512 secrets using a wordlist.
- JWT Generator/Editor: Create and sign JWTs (HS* and RS* support).
Quickstart
1. Install dependencies (using uv)
uv pip install -r pyproject.toml
2. Run the MCP server
uv run server.py
3. Configure Claude Desktop (or Cursor)
Add the following to your Claude Desktop mcpServers.json (or merge into your config):
{
"mcpServers": {
"JWT Auditor MCP": {
"type": "stdio",
"command": "uv",
"args": ["run", "server.py"],
"cwd": "/Users/haji/mcp-servers/jwtAuditor-Mcp"
}
}
}
- Make sure the
cwdpath matches your project directory. - This will launch the server in the correct environment using
uv.
4. Example mcp.json for MCP Inspector or other clients
If you want to use the MCP Inspector or another tool that requires an mcp.json config, use:
{
"mcpServers": {
"jwt-auditor": {
"type": "stdio",
"command": "uv",
"args": ["run", "server.py"],
"cwd": "/Users/haji/mcp-servers/jwtAuditor-Mcp"
}
}
}
Security
- All JWT operations are performed locally.
- No tokens or secrets are sent to any external service.
Credits
- Inspired by JWTAuditor
- Built with MCP Python SDK

New to MCP?
From what the protocol is to installing your first server, these answers cover most first questions.
An open protocol that defines how AI applications connect to external tools and data in a uniform way. Clients talk to the model; MCP servers provide tools, resources and prompt templates. They exchange standard messages, so one server can be reused by many clients.
