MCP-Model-Context-Protocol-Projects
LocalAbout MCP-Model-Context-Protocol-Projects
A Python project for learning MCP clients and servers, including a multimodal assistant client with a Streamlit interface. It combines a Python code execution tool with live weather updates from an MCP SSE server.
Key features
- 01Streamlit interface for MCP queries
- 02Sandboxed Python code execution
- 03Live weather updates over SSE
Use cases
- 01Query MCP servers through an interactive UI
- 02Run Python code through an MCP tool
- 03View streamed live weather updates
MCP support
The client queries MCP servers through its Streamlit interface. The project also includes a Python execution tool and connects to an MCP SSE server for weather updates.
Configuration
Local server config is the same for every client. Copy it into your client’s MCP config file.
We haven’t collected a package or remote endpoint for this server. Follow the instructions in the project README.
Tools
Local servers expose tools only once running on your machine, and the maintainer has not provided a tool list.
Details
From the project READMEMCP-Model-Context-Protocol-Projects
A multimodal assistant client built on the Model-Context-Protocol (MCP) framework, with tools for executing Python code, querying live weather via Server-Sent Events (SSE), and more.
Table of Contents
Features
- Weather SSE Tool: Connects to an MCP SSE server to stream live weather updates.
- Streamlit Front End: Interactive UI for sending queries to MCP servers.
- Python Executor: Tool for sandboxed execution of Python code via MCP.
Getting Started
Prerequisites
- Python 3.9 or later
pippackage manager- A valid Groq API key
Installation
- Clone this repository:
- Create and activate a virtual environment (optional but recommended):
python3 -m venv venv source venv/bin/activate - Install dependencies:
pip install -r requirements.txt
Configuration
Create a .env file in the project root containing only your Groq API key:
create the .env file inside mcp-client folder.
GROQ_API_KEY=your_groq_api_key_here
Usage
Run the Weather SSE Tool
This tool connects to your MCP SSE server and prints live weather updates:
cd mcp-server
python3 weather.py
Run the Streamlit UI
Launch the interactive front end for querying MCP servers:
cd mcp-client
streamlit run main.py
Requirements
See requirements.txt.

New to MCP?
From what the protocol is to installing your first server, these answers cover most first questions.
An open protocol that defines how AI applications connect to external tools and data in a uniform way. Clients talk to the model; MCP servers provide tools, resources and prompt templates. They exchange standard messages, so one server can be reused by many clients.
