About MCPFileSystem_Client
MCPFileSystem_Client connects a local LLM to a filesystem MCP server through an OpenAI SDK-compatible local endpoint. It is configured with a model, prompt, and base URL, and access is limited to the directories declared in the server setup.
Key features
- 01Connects to a filesystem MCP server
- 02Configurable model, prompt, and base URL
- 03Restricts access to specified directories
Use cases
- 01Working with files in configured directories through an LLM
- 02Testing a local model with filesystem tool calling
MCP support
The app uses StdioClientTransport to connect to @modelcontextprotocol/server-filesystem. The server can be configured with the directories it is allowed to access.
Configuration
Local server config is the same for every client. Copy it into your client’s MCP config file.
We haven’t collected a package or remote endpoint for this server. Follow the instructions in the project README.
Tools
Local servers expose tools only once running on your machine, and the maintainer has not provided a tool list.
Details
From the project READMEUSO
const transport = new StdioClientTransport({ command: "npx", args: [ "-y", "@modelcontextprotocol/server-filesystem", "ruta", "otra ruta", ... ], });``` - El modelo especificado por defecto en .env no funcionará correctamente, es necesario un modelo con la función de tool calling.

From what the protocol is to installing your first server, these answers cover most first questions.
An open protocol that defines how AI applications connect to external tools and data in a uniform way. Clients talk to the model; MCP servers provide tools, resources and prompt templates. They exchange standard messages, so one server can be reused by many clients.
