About SwiftMCP
SwiftMCP is a Swift implementation of MCP for developers building AI agent integrations in Swift. It includes both server and client components, with protocol support over standard I/O.
Key features
- 01Swift MCP server and client components
- 02MCP over standard I/O
- 03Logging, prompts, resources, and tools
- 04Server connection and context synchronization
Use cases
- 01Add MCP server capabilities to Swift apps
- 02Connect Swift clients to MCP servers
MCP support
SwiftMCP provides both MCP server and client components. Its server exposes logging, prompts, resources, and tools over standard I/O; its client connects to MCP servers and synchronizes context.
Configuration
Local server config is the same for every client. Copy it into your client’s MCP config file.
We haven’t collected a package or remote endpoint for this server. Follow the instructions in the project README.
Tools
Local servers expose tools only once running on your machine, and the maintainer has not provided a tool list.

A Swift implementation of the Model Context Protocol (MCP) for AI agent interactions.
Overview
SwiftMCP is a Model Context Protocol (MCP) implementation in Swift, consisting of both server and client components.
Requirements
- Swift 6.2+
- iOS 26+ / macOS 26+
- Xcode 26+
Project Structure
The project is organized into two main components:
SwiftMCPServer: The server implementationSwiftMCPClient: The client implementation
Dependencies
Installation
- Clone the repository:
git clone <repo>
cd SwiftMCP
- Build the project:
swift build
Server
The SwiftMCP server component provides a Model Context Protocol server implementation in Swift. It enables AI agents to interact with Swift applications using the standard MCP protocol.
Features
- Built with Swift 6.2+
- Implements MCP protocol over standard I/O
- Includes support for logging, prompts, resources, and tools
- Designed for iOS 26+ and macOS 26+
Getting Started
- Build the server:
swift build --product SwiftMCPServer
- Run the server:
swift run SwiftMCPServer
Server Component Details
The server component (SwiftMCPServer) is responsible for:
- Handling incoming MCP connections
- Managing model context
- Processing client requests
- Maintaining state synchronization
Location: SwiftMCPServer/Sources
Client
The SwiftMCP client component allows Swift applications to connect to and interact with MCP-compatible AI agents.
Features
- Built with Swift 6.2+
- Implements MCP client over standard I/O
- Designed for iOS 26+ and macOS 26+
- Simple API for initializing and communicating with MCP servers
Getting Started
- Build the client:
swift build --product SwiftMCPClient
- Run the client:
swift run SwiftMCPClient
Client Component Details
The client component (SwiftMCPClient) provides:
- Connection management to MCP server
- Model context synchronization
- Real-time updates handling
- Client-side state management
Location: SwiftMCPClient/Sources

New to MCP?
From what the protocol is to installing your first server, these answers cover most first questions.
An open protocol that defines how AI applications connect to external tools and data in a uniform way. Clients talk to the model; MCP servers provide tools, resources and prompt templates. They exchange standard messages, so one server can be reused by many clients.
