About Tariff News MCP Server
A Python MCP server for AI agents that retrieve and analyze current tariff-related news and reactions. It searches DuckDuckGo and supports stdio and SSE transports.
Key features
- 01Tariff news retrieval tool
- 02DuckDuckGo news search
- 03Configurable search time limits
- 04stdio and SSE transports
Use cases
- 01Retrieve current tariff-related news
- 02Review reactions to tariff developments
MCP support
Exposes the `get_tariff_reaction_news` tool to MCP clients for tariff news retrieval. Supports stdio and SSE transports.
Configuration
Local server config is the same for every client. Copy it into your client’s MCP config file.
We haven’t collected a package or remote endpoint for this server. Follow the instructions in the project README.
Tools
Local servers expose tools only once running on your machine, and the maintainer has not provided a tool list.
Details
From the project READMETariff News MCP Server
A specialized server for retrieving and analyzing tariff-related news using the Machine Conversation Protocol (MCP).
Overview
The Tariff News MCP Server provides a robust interface for AI agents to access up-to-date tariff news and reactions. It supports both stdio and Server-Sent Events (SSE) transport methods, making it versatile for different integration scenarios.
Features
- Dual transport support (stdio and SSE)
- Specialized
get_tariff_reaction_newstool for retrieving tariff-related news - Integration with DuckDuckGo search for current news retrieval
- Configurable time limits for news searches
Installation
Clone the repository and install dependencies:
git clone https://github.com/shanscar/Tariff-News-MCP-Server.git
cd Tariff-News-MCP-Server
pip install -r requirements.txt
pip install -e .
Usage
Running with stdio transport (default)
python -m tariff_news_server.server
Running with SSE transport
python -m tariff_news_server.server --transport sse
Configuration
Add the following to your mcp_settings.json file:
"mcpServers": {
"tariff-news-server": {
"command": "python",
"args": [
"-m",
"tariff_news_server.server"
],
"env": {},
"disabled": false,
"alwaysAllow": []
}
}
Architecture
The server follows a structured workflow:
- Receives tool requests from MCP clients
- Processes requests through the appropriate transport layer
- Executes the requested tool function (e.g.,
get_tariff_reaction_news) - Queries DuckDuckGo for relevant news articles
- Processes and formats the results
- Returns structured data to the client

New to MCP?
From what the protocol is to installing your first server, these answers cover most first questions.
An open protocol that defines how AI applications connect to external tools and data in a uniform way. Clients talk to the model; MCP servers provide tools, resources and prompt templates. They exchange standard messages, so one server can be reused by many clients.
