About ServiceNow MCP Server
NowAIKit is an MCP server that lets Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, Copilot and other AI clients read, build and query ServiceNow instances. It covers ITSM, ITOM, CMDB, HRSD, CSM and more. It is read-only by default, and write, scripting and CMDB changes require explicit opt-in flags.
Key features
- 01Tools across ITSM, ITOM, CMDB, HRSD and CSM modules
- 02Read-only by default with opt-in write flags
- 03Impact analysis for tables, fields and scripts
- 04Server-side reports through aggregate_report
- 05Local Sync to pull artifacts into local files
Use cases
- 01Querying open P1 incidents or recent changes and their risk
- 02Checking what depends on a table, field or script before changes
- 03Creating business rules or running ATF suites from plain-language requests
MCP support
This project is an MCP server that exposes ServiceNow tools to MCP clients, such as list_table_config, find_field_references and aggregate_report. The setup wizard can write client configuration automatically.
Configuration
Local server config is the same for every client. Copy it into your client’s MCP config file.

Config file locations differ by client; see your client’s docs.
Tools
Local servers expose tools only once running on your machine, and the maintainer has not provided a tool list.

ServiceNow MCP Server (NowAIKit)
Connect Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, Cursor, Copilot, or any AI, to ServiceNow.
500+ tools across ITSM, ITOM, CMDB, HRSD, CSM, Flow Designer, scripting & portal. Read, build, query and automate any instance in plain English.
New in 4.4 to 4.7: impact analysis (list_table_config / find_field_references / find_script_references) to see what depends on a table, field or script before you change it, Local Sync to pull artifacts to local files, and aggregate_report for server-side reports (count plus averages, no truncation).
🚀 Install (2 minutes)
Requires Node.js 20+.
# 1 — install
npm install -g nowaikit
# 2 — run the wizard: it detects your AI clients and writes their config for you
npx nowaikit setup
Restart your AI client (Claude Desktop, Cursor, …) and start asking. Done.
Prefer a UI?
npx nowaikit webfor a local dashboard — or use NowAIKit Cloud (nothing to install).
🔌 Manual setup (skip the wizard)
Add this to your client's MCP config (Claude Desktop claude_desktop_config.json, Cursor ~/.cursor/mcp.json, etc.):
{

"nowaikit": {
"command": "npx",
"args": ["-y", "nowaikit"],

💬 Use it — just ask
- "How many active P1 incidents are open right now?"
- "Show me the 5 most recent changes and their risk."
- "Create a business rule on the incident table that…"
- "Run the ATF suite for the HR onboarding flow."
- "What's the CMDB health for our prod CIs?"
- "Look up GlideRecord.addEncodedQuery in the ServiceNow docs and show the syntax."
Read-only by default. Write, scripting and CMDB changes are opt-in flags — prod can't be modified by accident.

New to MCP?
From what the protocol is to installing your first server, these answers cover most first questions.
An open protocol that defines how AI applications connect to external tools and data in a uniform way. Clients talk to the model; MCP servers provide tools, resources and prompt templates. They exchange standard messages, so one server can be reused by many clients.
