- 03Remove an app and inspect its leftover files
- 04Restore an item moved to the Trash by mistake
MCP support
The README mentions using MCP through npx coretend mcp, but does not specify which capabilities the MCP server exposes.
Configuration
Local server config is the same for every client. Copy it into your client’s MCP config file.
Tools
Local servers expose tools only once running on your machine, and the maintainer has not provided a tool list.

Four spaces
| Space | The question it answers |
|---|---|
| Home | How is my Mac, and what can I do now? The space CoreTend can give back, one button away. |
| Space | What takes the space? A map of your home folder, large files and exact duplicates. |
| Clean | What can I remove safely? 30 rules read at once — caches, logs, Xcode, simulators, npm, pnpm, Gradle, Cargo, Mail, AI tools and local models (Ollama, LM Studio), broken login agents, disk images — safe items ticked, one review, Undo. |
| Apps | Which apps take space or start on their own? Uninstall completely: the app and the files it left. |
History of every scan and move stays at the sidebar's foot.
Around the Mac
- Shortcuts and Siri: Get Free Space, Get Space to Clear, Open CoreTend (read and open only).
- Widget: free space and what the last Clean found.
- Finder: right-click a folder › Analyze with CoreTend; or drop it on the Dock icon.
- System features (optional): tidy
/Library/Cachesand turn third-party system services on or off, delete a local Time Machine snapshot or rebuild the Spotlight index, through a small signed helper installed only when you turn it on in Settings › System.
What CoreTend will never do
- Erase your files for good. Moves go to the macOS Trash after your review; CoreTend checks each item again just before, and Undo puts it back. The one exception is a local Time Machine snapshot you pick and confirm in Settings › System, which macOS cannot put back.
- Scare you. No health score, no alarm, no invented figure.
- Watch you. No account, no telemetry, nothing in the background. CoreTend asks this site whether an update exists (you can turn it off), and reads your apps' own update feeds only when you click Check for updates in Apps.
Install
- Download

design and the living greenhouse), ScanCore (read-only scanning), SafetyCore (the only code that
may move a file — to the Trash), Domain, Persistence, AppShell and the app itself, plus
the widget (CoreTendWidget), the Finder menu (CoreTendFinder) and the optional system helper

New to MCP?
From what the protocol is to installing your first server, these answers cover most first questions.
An open protocol that defines how AI applications connect to external tools and data in a uniform way. Clients talk to the model; MCP servers provide tools, resources and prompt templates. They exchange standard messages, so one server can be reused by many clients.
