About Assessment Intelligence

Assessment Intelligence provides psychometric analysis of assessment responses for educators and learning analysts. It combines item quality, ability, reliability, adaptive question selection, and skill mastery analysis.

Key features

  1. 01IRT item difficulty, discrimination, and guessing
  2. 02Estimate student ability
  3. 03Cronbach’s alpha and item-total correlations
  4. 04Adaptive next-item selection
  5. 05Bayesian skill mastery tracking
  6. 06Flag learners at risk of failure

Use cases

  1. 01Identify assessment items with poor discrimination
  2. 02Estimate student ability beyond raw scores
  3. 03Choose the next question from an item bank
  4. 04Track mastery and identify learners needing support

MCP support

Provides assessment analysis tools to MCP clients through a remote Streamable HTTP server. OAuth 2.1 authentication uses PKCE and dynamic client registration.

Configuration

Remote servers need no local install. Pick your client, then copy the config or install in one click.

Cursor.cursor/mcp.json
VS Code.vscode/mcp.json

Run commands in a terminal; paste JSON into the client’s MCP config and restart. Servers that need sign-in will prompt on first connect.

Assessment Intelligence

Psychometric analysis over assessment response data: Item Response Theory for item difficulty / discrimination / guessing, true ability (θ) separate from test difficulty, Cronbach’s alpha reliability, computerized adaptive next-item selection, and Bayesian Knowledge Tracing of skill mastery. Flags items that measure the wrong thing and learners whose trajectory predicts failure.

Install

VS Code / GitHub Copilot

Add to .vscode/mcp.json (workspace) or your user mcp.json:

{
  "servers": {
    "saifs-assessment-intelligence": {
      "type": "http",
      "url": "https://assessment-intelligence-mcp.saifs.ai/mcp"
    }
  }
}

Then start the server from the MCP view and sign in when prompted.

Claude Code
claude mcp add --transport http saifs-assessment-intelligence https://assessment-intelligence-mcp.saifs.ai/mcp
Any other MCP client

Point it at https://assessment-intelligence-mcp.saifs.ai/mcp using the Streamable HTTP transport. The server returns 401 with a WWW-Authenticate: Bearer … resource_metadata=… challenge, so OAuth-aware clients sign in automatically.

Tools

ToolWhat it does
analyze_assessmentPer-item IRT parameters (difficulty, discrimination, guessing) and flags for bad items.
estimate_abilityEach student’s true ability (θ), separate from how hard the test was.
assessment_reliabilityCronbach’s alpha and item-total correlations.
adaptive_next_itemOptimal next question from an item bank given current ability (CAT).
track_masteryBayesian Knowledge Tracing: P(mastered) per skill over a learning history.
flag_at_risk_learnersStudents whose mastery / ability trajectory predicts failure — framed as support, not ranking.
explain_itemWhy an item is good or bad, with its fitted parameters.

Example prompts

  • “Here’s this mock’s response matrix. Which questions have negative discrimination and should be dropped?”
  • “Estimate each student’s true ability on this test, not just their raw percentage.”
  • “From this skill history, who is at risk of failing, and what has each person actually mastered?”

From what the protocol is to installing your first server, these answers cover most first questions.

An open protocol that defines how AI applications connect to external tools and data in a uniform way. Clients talk to the model; MCP servers provide tools, resources and prompt templates. They exchange standard messages, so one server can be reused by many clients.
