About Variel MCP Server

Environment variables to set
BRAND_API_KEYSecretYour Variel project API key (bsk_…) to connect an existing brand. Get it from your Variel dashboard, or run `variel-mcp login` to provision one via browser sign-in (no copy-paste). You can also start keyless and generate a brand with generate_brand_kickoff.
VARIEL_API_URLOverride the Variel API base URL. Defaults to https://variel.ai. Optional — for self-hosted or staging.
ANTHROPIC_API_KEYSecretAnthropic API key. Required only for grade_visual_quality, generate_component, and Tier-2 validate_copy. Optional for all other tools.

Local servers need a runtime on your machine (e.g. Node.js 18+). Config file locations differ by client; see your client’s docs.

New to MCP?

From what the protocol is to installing your first server, these answers cover most first questions.

An open protocol that defines how AI applications connect to external tools and data in a uniform way. Clients talk to the model; MCP servers provide tools, resources and prompt templates. They exchange standard messages, so one server can be reused by many clients.
