About polardbx-mcp

polardbx-mcp is an MCP server for AI agents accessing Alibaba Cloud PolarDB-X databases. It provides SQL, status, and command tools, plus table-schema resources.

Key features

  1. 01Run PolarDB-X SQL queries
  2. 02Inspect database status
  3. 03Show PolarDB-X SQL commands
  4. 04Provide table-schema resources
  5. 05Expose column names and data types

Use cases

  1. 01Query PolarDB-X data through an agent
  2. 02Check PolarDB-X database status
  3. 03Retrieve table columns and data types

MCP support

The MCP server provides clients with PolarDB-X query, status, and command tools, along with table-schema resources containing column names and data types.

Configuration

Local server config is the same for every client. Copy it into your client’s MCP config file.

From what the protocol is to installing your first server, these answers cover most first questions.

An open protocol that defines how AI applications connect to external tools and data in a uniform way. Clients talk to the model; MCP servers provide tools, resources and prompt templates. They exchange standard messages, so one server can be reused by many clients.
