About internet-monitor
Internet Monitor MCP server connects MCP clients to Internet Monitor: Uptime, a macOS menu bar app that records connection checks. It is for users who want to query local uptime, outages, and latency history through an AI assistant.
Key features
- 01Read current connection status
- 02Summarize uptime for up to 30 days
- 03List outages with exact times
- 04View latency statistics by probe
- 05List networks used by the Mac
Use cases
- 01Review connection uptime for a period
- 02Find outage start and end times
- 03Compare latency across probe targets
- 04Check networks previously used
MCP support
The local stdio server provides five read-only tools that read Internet Monitor: Uptime's locally stored monitoring files. It sends no data elsewhere and works without the app being open.
Configuration
Local server config is the same for every client. Copy it into your client’s MCP config file.
We haven’t collected a package or remote endpoint for this server. Follow the instructions in the project README.
Tools
Local servers expose tools only once running on your machine, and the maintainer has not provided a tool list.
Details
From the project READMEInternet Monitor MCP server
Ask your AI how your internet has been. This MCP server connects Claude Desktop (or any MCP client) to Internet Monitor: Uptime, a menu bar app for macOS that checks your connection every second and keeps the evidence.
Once connected, you can ask things like:
- "How has my internet been today?"
- "List every outage this week with exact times"
- "What was my average latency yesterday, per network?"
Tools
Five read-only tools, with periods up to 30 days and filterable per network:
| Tool | What it returns |
|---|---|
get_status | Current connection state |
get_uptime | Uptime summaries for a period |
list_outages | Every outage with exact start, end, and duration |
get_latency_stats | Latency statistics per probe target |
list_networks | The networks your Mac has used |
Install
- Get Internet Monitor: Uptime on the Mac App Store (US$4.99, one-time). The app records the data the server reads; without it the server has nothing to report.
- Download the one-click bundle from the latest release or from internetmonitor.app/ai, then double-click it to install in Claude Desktop. The app's Settings also offer an Install Claude Extension shortcut.
Requires macOS 14 or later.
Privacy
The server is a local stdio process that reads the app's locally stored monitoring files, nothing else. It is sandboxed, works even when the app is closed, opens no network ports, and sends nothing anywhere. The app itself ships with App Privacy: Data Not Collected.
About this repository
Internet Monitor is a commercial app, so this repository hosts the release bundles and this page, not the source code. Questions and bug reports: internetmonitor.app/support.

From what the protocol is to installing your first server, these answers cover most first questions.
An open protocol that defines how AI applications connect to external tools and data in a uniform way. Clients talk to the model; MCP servers provide tools, resources and prompt templates. They exchange standard messages, so one server can be reused by many clients.
