This project implements an MCP Server and tools to query Aviation Stack, a real-time Flight Status & Global Aviation Data API.

What is Model Context Protocol?

The Model Context Protocol (MCP) is a standard developed by Anthropic that enables AI models to use tools by defining a structured format for tool descriptions, calls, and responses.

Installation

# Install from Test PyPI
pip install -i https://test.pypi.org/simple/ aviation-stack-mcp

# To install from Test PyPI and bypass SSL verification issues, you need to update your trusted hosts to match the test.pypi.org domain.
pip install -i https://test.pypi.org/simple/ aviation-stack-mcp \
  --trusted-host test.pypi.org \
  --trusted-host files.pythonhosted.org

# Or install from the project directory (development mode)
pip install -e .

Setup

🔐 Set your API key as an environment variable to enable access to the MCP server. Register and fetch your API keys from the aviation stack website.

Set the AVIATION_STACK_API_KEY key as an environment variable:

# On Unix/macOS
export AVIATION_STACK_API_KEY="your-api-key-here"

# On Windows (PowerShell)
$env:AVIATION_STACK_API_KEY="your-api-key-here"

Usage

Start the MCP server:

# Using the command-line entry point
aviation-stack-mcp --connection_type http

# Or run directly
python main.py --connection_type http
