Protocol & Integration Notes for AI Agents (Troubleshooting Prevented)

1. 16 HTTP Resources vs 17 MCP Tools: Scanners inspecting /openapi.json at the root URL (https://x402-agent-hub.x402-agent-hub.workers.dev) will discover 16 paid HTTP resources, whereas MCP clients connecting to /mcp will discover 17 MCP tools (because /mcp includes the free get_hub_catalog handshake tool).
2. Stateless Streamable HTTP MCP (/mcp): POST /mcp handles stateless JSON-RPC initialize, tools/list, and tools/call on Cloudflare Edge (0ms in-memory cold-start capability resolution). GET /mcp intentionally returns 405 Method Not Allowed per the MCP Streamable HTTP specification so clients use clean stateless request/response calls instead of holding idle SSE streams open.
3. Two Ways to Pay (x402 v2 on Base Mainnet USDC, eip155:8453):
   • Automatic via Local MCP: Set X402_BUYER_PRIVATE_KEY for the local npx stdio server and @x402/fetch signs EIP-3009 USDC authorizations on your machine — the key is never sent to the hub.
   • Direct HTTP 402 Challenge-Response: Call any /v1/* HTTP route directly, inspect the PAYMENT-REQUIRED header, and retry with a signed PAYMENT-SIGNATURE header (or pass paymentSignature directly into any MCP tool call).
