Tools
38| Parameter | Type | Required | Description |
|---|---|---|---|
| query | object | Yes | |
| query.x | integer|null | No | Optional native radius origin X; requires z. Coordinates must be -33554432..33554431. |
| query.z | integer|null | No | Optional native radius origin Z; requires x. No dimension scaling. |
| query.to | string|null | No | Optional inclusive end capture/read date, YYYY-MM-DD. |
| query.from | string|null | No | Optional inclusive capture/read date, YYYY-MM-DD. Unknown dates do not match. |
| query.kind | string | No | Single category, default sign. Ignored when kinds is supplied. |
| query.maxX | integer|null | Yes | |
| query.maxY | integer | No | Inclusive maximum Y, -2048..2047. |
| query.maxZ | integer|null | Yes | |
| query.minX | integer|null | Yes | Inclusive viewport bounds; supply minX, minZ, maxX and maxZ together. Intersects any radius filter. |
| query.minY | integer | No | Inclusive minimum Y, -2048..2047. |
| query.minZ | integer|null | Yes | |
| query.sort | string | No | newest (default), oldest or nearest. Nearest requires x and z. Multiple categories are interleaved. |
| query.text | string|null | No | Up to 100 characters of sign text, saved item IDs or names, or object names. Matching uses Unicode NFKC, removes Minecraft color codes, collapses whitespace and ignores case. Categories without searchable text remain visible. |
| query.kinds | array|null | No | Categories: sign, storage, portal, bedrock, spawner, endPortalFrame, petrifiedOakSlab, mob, mapArt, banner, itemFrame, object. The last five use positioned objects from location captures and retain capture-specific identities. Rare blocks follow the illegal-block policy. Storage excludes ender chests. |
| query.limit | integer | No | 1–50 results per page, default 25. MCP map queries use this to page aggregates. |
| query.match | string | No | phrase (default) is a literal substring; word matches one whole word; allWords requires every word within one captured version. Use word for Mu to exclude Maximus. |
| query.offset | integer | No | Nonnegative paging offset. Every matching result is browsable. Follow nextOffset with unchanged filters; null marks the end. |
| query.radius | integer | No | Horizontal circle radius 1..65536 blocks, default 1024. Used only with x and z. |
| query.source | string | No | Single source ID or family (all, nocom, wdl, primary), default all. Explicit sources need searchable coverage. Ignored when sources is supplied. |
| query.sources | array|null | No | 1–100 public source IDs or families: all, nocom, wdl, primary. Omitted searches all. Empty arrays, unknown IDs and explicitly selected sources without searchable coverage are invalid. Discover IDs and coverage with list_world_find_sources. |
| query.cellSize | integer | No | Power of two from 1 through 67108864 blocks, default 256. Large viewports may return a coarser cellSize. |
| query.blockType | string|null | No | Optional exact Minecraft block or entity ID, with or without minecraft: prefix. |
| query.dimension | string | No | Native dimension: overworld (default), nether or end. |
| query.hideEmpty | boolean | No | Only storage with at least one saved item. Excludes empty and unknown inventories; other categories remain visible. |
| query.namedOnly | boolean | No | Only saved objects with an explicit custom name. Other categories remain visible. |
| query.renderIds | array|null | No | Optional 1–100 public render IDs. Restricts results to the selected captures. |
| query.changedSigns | boolean | No | Require differing captured sign text at the same position within selected sources. Other categories remain visible. |
| query.hideBlankSigns | boolean | No | Only signs with saved text after whitespace and Minecraft formatting are removed. Blank or uncaptured text is excluded; other categories remain visible. Defaults to false. |
| query.contentsRecorded | boolean | No | Only storage with a recorded inventory, including saved empty lists. Excludes unknown inventories and NoCom storage; other categories remain visible. |
Details
From the project README2b2tAtlas Public API
Use Atlas data in your own map, mod or research tool. Look up places, groups and highways, find a saved world, or search captured signs, inventories, mobs and map art. Public reads need no account or API key.
This repo has the API reference, HTTP examples and a dated copy of the application source.
Checked October 26, 2026: 57 public GET routes and 38 read-only MCP tools. Recorded response examples are from October 19; values and counts can change. Use the live website reference or the complete route catalog for exact parameters.
Base URL: https://api.blackportal.cloud.
You can make requests from a browser, a command line, or your own code.

Try it
Open the location list in a browser,
or run one of these commands. On Windows PowerShell 5.1, use curl.exe.
curl --fail "https://api.blackportal.cloud/api/locations"
curl --fail "https://api.blackportal.cloud/api/groups"
curl --fail "https://api.blackportal.cloud/api/renders?limit=10"
curl --fail "https://api.blackportal.cloud/api/nocom/highways?dimension=nether&direction=northeast"
List responses are JSON arrays. Warps, renders, and attachments accept limit
and offset; the default limit is 500 and the maximum is 1,000. Locations return
the complete catalog.
For a location picker or directory, use /api/locations/directory. It returns
compact rows with names, groups, counts and preferred actions. Fetch
/api/locations/{id} when someone opens a record for its full history and media.
Request examples
examples/requests.http contains ordinary HTTP requests for catalog records, Find, inventories and historical observations. Use the API from whatever language or HTTP tool you already use. No Atlas client package is required.
The application snapshot is separate from the current API reference. Its setup guides describe the September 26, 2026 source; they do not describe later production features or runtime changes.

Client behavior
- Cache catalog responses and honor HTTP cache headers. In Minecraft clients, perform HTTP requests and image decoding outside the render/tick thread.
- Use
interactiveUrlfor a location page, apiUrlfor JSON, andworldDownloadUrlfor a saved world. For a Find object's 3D destination, prefersavedObject.locationLink, resolved againsthttps://2b2tatlas.com.blueMapUrlopens the standalone viewer and is optional and render-specific. - Handle null fields and ignore unknown JSON properties.
- Coordinates use the record's native dimension:
0Overworld,1Nether,2End. Tile-template{y}is a tile row, not Minecraft elevation. - WDLs are partial historical Java saves. Their metadata includes scope, provenance, size, and SHA-256; ZIP downloads support HTTP ranges.
- Historical coordinates and renders do not describe the current server state. Nocom observation counts are not unique-player counts.
- Saved inventories come from WDL captures. NoCom records container positions, not their contents. Neither an old capture nor a missing result tells you that a chest was later emptied or looted.
- Retain source URLs, captions, attribution, and evidence fields when copying records so the original material can be checked.
MCP
Endpoint: https://api.blackportal.cloud/mcp. Transport: Streamable HTTP.
The server is stateless and read-only, with no authentication required.
The MCP guide includes client configuration, the current tools, and
resource URIs. The registry name is
io.github.bobymicjohn/2b2t-atlas;
its manifest is server.json.
Bulk data
Static exports are hosted on 2b2tatlas.com:
| File | Content |
|---|---|
| dataset.json | Dataset metadata and catalog links |
| locations.jsonl | Location records |
| groups.jsonl | Groups and relationships |
| highways.jsonl | Approved highways and relationships |
| media.jsonl | Historical media records |
| world-downloads.jsonl | Available partial WDLs, checksums, and source links |
| llms.txt | Data and documentation index |
Use these exports for bulk imports. Keep entity IDs and canonical URLs with imported records. The WDL catalog also has an HTML view.
Existing integration
XaeroTools supports an optional Atlas location overlay with source links and local copies of Atlas map imagery.

New to MCP?
From what the protocol is to installing your first server, these answers cover most first questions.
An open protocol that defines how AI applications connect to external tools and data in a uniform way. Clients talk to the model; MCP servers provide tools, resources and prompt templates. They exchange standard messages, so one server can be reused by many clients.
