MCP support

The server exposes Clypt link-management tools to MCP clients such as Claude Desktop and Cursor. It runs locally through npx and requires a Clypt API key.

Configuration

Local server config is the same for every client. Copy it into your client’s MCP config file.

mcp.json · Universal config
{

}
}
}
}

Local servers need a runtime on your machine (e.g. Node.js 18+). Config file locations differ by client; see your client’s docs.

From the project README

Clypt MCP Server

An MCP (Model Context Protocol) server that connects AI assistants to Clypt — the AI-Powered Link Intelligence platform. Shorten links, view analytics, manage tags and folders, all from Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, or any MCP-compatible client.

Quick Start

npx clypt-mcp

You'll need a Clypt API key. Get one at clypt.io/dashboard/settings.

Installation

Claude Desktop

Add to your Claude Desktop config (~/Library/Application Support/Claude/claude_desktop_config.json on macOS):

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "clypt": {
      "command": "npx",
      "args": ["-y", "clypt-mcp"],
      "env": {
        "CLYPT_API_KEY": "clypt_your_key_here"
      }
    }
  }
}
Cursor

Add to your Cursor MCP settings (.cursor/mcp.json):

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "clypt": {
      "command": "npx",
      "args": ["-y", "clypt-mcp"],
      "env": {
        "CLYPT_API_KEY": "clypt_your_key_here"
      }
    }
  }
}
Global Install
npm install -g clypt-mcp
CLYPT_API_KEY=clypt_your_key_here clypt-mcp

New to MCP?

From what the protocol is to installing your first server, these answers cover most first questions.

An open protocol that defines how AI applications connect to external tools and data in a uniform way. Clients talk to the model; MCP servers provide tools, resources and prompt templates. They exchange standard messages, so one server can be reused by many clients.
