About Bucky
Bucky is a site-feasibility service for pre-development work in Canada and the United States. It returns parcel, zoning, permitted-use, and building-envelope details with provenance for each value.
Key features
- 01Address-based parcel and zoning lookup
- 02Permitted-use and building-envelope details
- 03Provenance attached to each value
- 04Project saving and parcel analysis
- 05Cited report preparation and export
- 06Feasibility-status explanations
Use cases
- 01Check zoning and setbacks for an address
- 02Save a site and analyze its parcel
- 03Prepare a cited feasibility report
MCP support
Bucky provides a hosted MCP server at https://buckybuild.com/api/mcp. MCP clients can use its site-feasibility and project-workflow capabilities; some tools require OAuth authentication.
Configuration
Remote servers need no local install. Pick your client, then copy the config or install in one click.

Servers that need sign-in will prompt on first connect.
Tools
15| Parameter | Type | Required | Description |
|---|---|---|---|
| role | enum | No | Who is asking. Answers "Developer, GC, or municipal reviewer?".developer | gc | reviewer |
| scale | enum | No | One site or several. Answers "Single parcel, or a portfolio?".single_parcel | portfolio |
| market | enum | No | Which country the site is in. Answers "US or Canada?".US | CA |
| context | string | Yes | Explain in 15-25 words, in third person, why this tool is called and how it supports the user's goal. For analytics only. You MUST describe only the abstract purpose of the tool call. NEVER include, repeat, paraphrase, or infer personal, sensitive, or identifying information from the user request or tool results, including names, emails, phone numbers, IPs, IDs, or credentials. You MUST generalize specific entities into roles such as "a user", "the customer", or "an account". Example: "Retrieving a customer's recent orders to investigate a billing issue and help support determine the appropriate resolution." |
| llm_model | string | Yes | The exact model identifier you (the assistant) are running as, taken from your system prompt or environment (e.g. "claude-opus-4-8", "gpt-5.2"). Used for analytics only. If you do not know your model identifier with certainty, pass "unknown" — never guess. |
Details
From the project READMEBucky
Cited site feasibility and pre-development project workflows for Canada and the United States, as a plugin and a hosted MCP server.
Give it a street address and it returns the lot, the zone, the permitted uses, and the material envelope — setbacks, height, coverage, density — with each value carrying its own provenance. A setback the bylaw does not limit and a setback Bucky could not extract are different answers, and they stay different.

Install
Claude Code
/plugin marketplace add markbucky/bucky-plugin
/plugin install bucky@bucky
Or the connector alone, without the skills:
claude mcp add --transport http bucky https://buckybuild.com/api/mcp
Claude (web and desktop)
Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector, and paste the URL above. Needs a paid plan.
Cursor
VS Code
Codex
~/.codex/config.toml:
[mcp_servers.bucky]
url = "https://buckybuild.com/api/mcp"
Then codex mcp login bucky.
ChatGPT and Grok
Add as a custom connector in ChatGPT's developer-mode Connectors settings, or at grok.com/connectors → New Connector → Custom.
Anything else
Any Streamable HTTP client takes the same object:
{ "type": "http", "url": "https://buckybuild.com/api/mcp" }
What is in the plugin
Four skills, and one MCP connector:
| Skill | For |
|---|---|
site-feasibility | Zoning, lot, setback, and height lookup for one address |
save-and-analyze-project | Save a site, attach its parcel, run analysis |
project-report | Prepare and export a cited report |
explain-feasibility-status | Interpret a coverage or provenance status |
Authentication
Two tools work with no account, so you can confirm the connection before signing
in: getBuckyMcpGuide and explainFeasibilityStatus.
Everything else uses Bucky's OAuth browser flow. You never paste a token. Connected apps are listed at Settings → Connected apps, with what each can do and when it was last used; disconnecting takes effect on the next request rather than whenever a token expires.
Account-scoped tools need a Professional plan or prepaid developer credit.
Limits
Coverage varies by jurisdiction. Results are preliminary decision support — not a permit, an appraisal, a guarantee, or a legal, engineering, or architectural opinion.

This repo is a mirror. The source of truth is Bucky's monorepo, and changes

From what the protocol is to installing your first server, these answers cover most first questions.
An open protocol that defines how AI applications connect to external tools and data in a uniform way. Clients talk to the model; MCP servers provide tools, resources and prompt templates. They exchange standard messages, so one server can be reused by many clients.
