ChatterAPI skill and MCP setup

Live Reddit and X (Twitter) data for Claude, Cursor, Codex and any other MCP client, plus a Claude skill that teaches the agent to use it without burning through credits.

ChatterAPI gives you one API key for both platforms. Search posts, comments and tweets, read full threads, look up users and subreddits, find leads and track brand mentions. You can call it over REST (https://api.chatterapi.com/v1) or connect the hosted MCP server (https://api.chatterapi.com/mcp) and let your agent pick the tools.

This repo has three things:

• SKILL.md: a Claude skill for four jobs (find leads, listen for mentions, research communities, look up people) with budget rules, so the agent asks before an expensive run.
• examples/mcp/: copy-paste MCP configs for Claude Code, Claude Desktop, Cursor, Windsurf and Codex.
• examples/rest/: the same search in curl, Python and JavaScript.

Install

1. Get a key. Sign up at chatterapi.com/signup with Google. You get 100 free credits without a card. Keep the key in an environment variable:

export CHATTERAPI_KEY="ca_live_..."

2. Connect the MCP server. For Claude Code:

3. Add the skill.

Or copy SKILL.md into ~/.claude/skills/chatterapi/.

Then ask your agent something like "find people on Reddit and X asking for a CRM recommendation this week" or "what does r/SaaS allow for self-promotion?"
