About World Beach Map: beaches and sea temperature

World Beach Map is a free, read-only remote MCP service with worldwide beach records for discovery and trip planning. Records include twelve monthly NOAA sea temperatures, shore type, a Wikipedia article, and photo credit.

Key features

  1. 01Search beaches by text, country, and filters
  2. 02Get a beach profile by ID or name
  3. 03Rank beaches by typical warm-season temperature
  4. 04Find beaches in their best-time window for a month
  5. 05Provide monthly NOAA sea temperatures

Use cases

  1. 01Filter beaches by temperature and sand criteria
  2. 02Compare sea temperatures across months in a country
  3. 03Look up a beach’s shore type and related details
  4. 04Plan a beach trip around the best-time window

MCP support

The service provides an unauthenticated, stateless remote MCP endpoint over Streamable HTTP at https://beachmapworld.com/mcp. MCP clients can use tools for search, beach profiles, warmest-beach rankings, and month-based discovery.

Configuration

Remote servers need no local install. Pick your client, then copy the config or install in one click.

Beachmap MCP server

Remote Model Context Protocol server for World Beach Map — beaches worldwide from Wikidata, each with twelve monthly sea-surface temperatures from NOAA OISST v2.1, its shore type, its Wikipedia article and its photograph credit.

Free, read-only, no key or account. Listed in the official MCP registry as com.europebeachmap/beachmap — the namespace keeps the site's former domain, because a registry namespace is bound to the name it was verified under and cannot be renamed. The old endpoint, https://europebeachmap.com/mcp, therefore keeps answering rather than redirecting: a JSON-RPC client reads a 301 as a protocol error, not as a new address.

Endpoint

https://beachmapworld.com/mcp

Streamable HTTP transport, stateless, no authentication.

Claude Code:

claude mcp add --transport http beachmap https://beachmapworld.com/mcp

Claude / ChatGPT / other clients with remote MCP support — add https://beachmapworld.com/mcp as a custom connector, or use the generic config:

{ "mcpServers": { "beachmap": { "type": "http", "url": "https://beachmapworld.com/mcp" } } }

From what the protocol is to installing your first server, these answers cover most first questions.

An open protocol that defines how AI applications connect to external tools and data in a uniform way. Clients talk to the model; MCP servers provide tools, resources and prompt templates. They exchange standard messages, so one server can be reused by many clients.
