About Airtable MCP by InsightfulPipe

A hosted MCP server that lets AI clients inspect and manage Airtable bases, tables, fields, records, and comments. It is for teams working with Airtable; account-level action controls and Airtable PAT scopes govern access.

Key features

  1. 01List bases, tables, and views
  2. 02Inspect table schemas and fields
  3. 03Search, count, and read records
  4. 04Create and update records
  5. 05Manage comments and attachments
  6. 06Control actions per account

Use cases

  1. 01Find records matching a keyword
  2. 02Check a table’s fields and schema
  3. 03Add or update lead records
  4. 04Comment on an Airtable record

MCP support

Exposes read and write Airtable actions to MCP clients through a hosted remote server. Administrators can enable actions per account, while PAT scopes also determine what is allowed.

Configuration

Remote servers need no local install. Pick your client, then copy the config or install in one click.

Airtable MCP Server by Insightful Pipe

MCP Compatible Insightful Pipe License

Connect Airtable to AI assistants: bases, tables, fields and records.

Part of the Insightful Pipe MCP Server Collection — use Airtable from Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, and other AI assistants through the Model Context Protocol (MCP).

What is Airtable MCP?

Airtable MCP is a remote Model Context Protocol server hosted by InsightfulPipe. List Airtable bases, inspect tables, and read records across your connected workspace. The PAT scopes you grant decide what's allowed.

Installation

Claude
  1. Copy the MCP Server URL: https://airtable.insightfulmcp.com/
  2. Open Claude Connectors Settings
  3. Scroll to the bottom and click Add custom connector
  4. Paste the URL and click Add
  5. Click Connect and sign in to InsightfulPipe if asked. Claude then lists the connector as connected.
ChatGPT

Custom MCP servers are added through ChatGPT's Developer mode. Availability depends on your ChatGPT plan, and workspace admins may need to allow it.

  1. Turn on Developer mode in ChatGPT settings
  2. Create a new app for a remote MCP server and paste the URL: https://airtable.insightfulmcp.com/
  3. Sign in to InsightfulPipe if asked. The connection finishes as soon as you are signed in.

See OpenAI's guide: Developer mode and MCP apps in ChatGPT

Claude Code
claude mcp add --transport http airtable https://airtable.insightfulmcp.com/
Cursor

Add the server to ~/.cursor/mcp.json (all projects) or .cursor/mcp.json (one project):

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "airtable": {
      "url": "https://airtable.insightfulmcp.com/"
    }
  }
}

When Cursor shows Needs authentication, click Connect and sign in to InsightfulPipe if asked.

Control What Your AI Can Do

You decide what AI agents can do with each connected account:

  • Turn individual actions on or off for every connected account, so agents only see the actions you allow.
  • Connect as Read-only or Read & Write. A read-only connection can only enable read actions.
  • Destructive actions stay off by default. Actions such as deletes are disabled until an admin enables them.
  • Team access per account. Restricted team members only use the accounts they are granted, with the read actions enabled on them.

Usage Examples

"List records in the Campaigns table where Status is Live"
"How many records are in the Leads table?"
"Create a record for a new lead"

Pricing

New to MCP?

From what the protocol is to installing your first server, these answers cover most first questions.

An open protocol that defines how AI applications connect to external tools and data in a uniform way. Clients talk to the model; MCP servers provide tools, resources and prompt templates. They exchange standard messages, so one server can be reused by many clients.
