About jettyd

jettyd is an MCP server that connects AI agents and MCP-compatible clients to ESP32 IoT devices. It provides device status, sensor readings, commands, telemetry history, and automation-rule controls.

Key features

  1. 01List devices and their status
  2. 02Read current sensor values
  3. 03Send commands to devices
  4. 04Retrieve historical telemetry
  5. 05Push JettyScript automation rules

Use cases

  1. 01Check greenhouse temperature
  2. 02Switch an irrigation relay on for a set duration
  3. 03Review humidity trends over a time period
  4. 04Set a temperature threshold rule

MCP support

The server exposes tools for managing and querying jettyd-connected ESP32 devices to MCP clients, including device listing, readings, commands, telemetry, and rules.

Configuration

Local server config is the same for every client. Copy it into your client’s MCP config file.

mcp.json · Universal config

"com-jettyd": {
"command": "npx",
"args": [
"-y",
"@jettyd/mcp"

JETTYD_API_KEYSecretYour jettyd API key from api.jettyd.com
JETTYD_BASE_URLjettyd API base URL (default: https://api.jettyd.com/v1)

Local servers need a runtime on your machine (e.g. Node.js 18+). Config file locations differ by client; see your client’s docs.

Tools

ToolDescription
list_devicesList all devices with status
read_deviceGet current sensor readings
send_commandSend command to device (relay, LED, etc.)
get_telemetryHistorical sensor readings
push_rulesPush JettyScript automation rules

Example conversations

"What's the temperature in the greenhouse?" → Calls read_device, reads shadow, returns current temperature

"Turn on the irrigation relay for 30 seconds" → Calls send_command with relay.on and {duration: 30000}

"Alert me if temperature goes above 30°C" → Calls push_rules with a threshold rule

"Show me the humidity trend for the last 24 hours" → Calls get_telemetry with metric=air.humidity, period=24h

New to MCP?

From what the protocol is to installing your first server, these answers cover most first questions.

An open protocol that defines how AI applications connect to external tools and data in a uniform way. Clients talk to the model; MCP servers provide tools, resources and prompt templates. They exchange standard messages, so one server can be reused by many clients.
