About SSL Certificate Check
SSL Certificate Check is a hosted MCP server for inspecting the TLS certificate served by an endpoint. It is for users who need to check certificate expiry, hostname coverage, and accepted TLS versions through a single remote tool.
Key features
- 01Inspect an endpoint's served certificate
- 02Check certificate expiration
- 03Verify hostname coverage
- 04Check accepted TLS versions
Use cases
- 01Review a service endpoint's certificate
- 02Confirm a hostname is covered by a certificate
- 03Check which TLS versions an endpoint accepts
MCP support
PowMCP provides this hosted remote MCP server over Streamable HTTP. It exposes the `ssl_check` tool to MCP clients.
Configuration
Remote servers need no local install. Pick your client, then copy the config or install in one click.

Servers that need sign-in will prompt on first connect.
Tools
1| Parameter | Type | Required | Description |
|---|---|---|---|
| url | string | Yes | Full public URL of the site to probe. Its hostname and explicit port drive the handshakes; port 443 is used when no port is named. The submitted scheme is reported, but the page is never fetched and plain-HTTP serving or redirects are not tested |

From the project READMEPowMCP MCP server guide
PowMCP provides hosted, task-specific MCP servers. This repository documents three of them, their remote connection URLs, and their public MCP Registry descriptors. The hosted server implementation is proprietary and is not contained in this repository. You do not need to install or run code from this repository to use the servers.
| Server | Remote MCP endpoint | Tools | Guide | Registry descriptor |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| SSL Certificate Check | https://powmcp.com/ssl-certificate-check/mcp | ssl_check | SSL guide | server.json |
| Ebook File Check | https://powmcp.com/epub-check/mcp | ebook_check, ebook_compare | EPUB guide | server.json |
| Caption File Check | https://powmcp.com/caption-file-check/mcp | caption_check, caption_compare | Caption guide | server.json |
Each URL is a separate remote MCP server using Streamable HTTP. Add only the URL for the tool you need to an MCP client that supports remote servers. For example, a client that accepts an mcpServers JSON entry can use:
{
"mcpServers": {
"powmcp-ssl-certificate-check": {
"type": "http",
"url": "https://powmcp.com/ssl-certificate-check/mcp"
}
}
}
Replace the name and URL with one of the other entries above to connect another server. The individual app pages also provide client-specific connection buttons and commands. If your client requests authorization, complete its native sign-in flow. Client support for PowMCP account linking varies; consult the connection instructions on the app page. Usage allowances and any paid options are shown on the PowMCP apps and usage page.
The guides explain each tool's input and what its result can establish. For help with connection or results, contact [email protected]. See support and security for reporting guidance.
The MIT license applies to documentation, descriptors, and example configuration in this repository. From what the protocol is to installing your first server, these answers cover most first questions.
An open protocol that defines how AI applications connect to external tools and data in a uniform way. Clients talk to the model; MCP servers provide tools, resources and prompt templates. They exchange standard messages, so one server can be reused by many clients.
