About Routine Run
Routine Run connects an AI assistant to a person's iPhone routines and runs. It supports reading and managing runs, while routine changes remain suggestions for approval on the phone unless permission is configured otherwise.
Key features
- 01Read routines and runs from the phone
- 02Start, plan, pause and move runs
- 03Suggest new or changed routines
- 04Undo run actions with one press
- 05Read notes and values when enabled
Use cases
- 01Check personal routines through an assistant
- 02Start or pause a routine run
- 03Suggest edits for approval on the phone
- 04Try the demo library before connecting the app
MCP support
Provides a private Streamable HTTP MCP server for a person's routines and runs, using OAuth 2.1 with a code entered in the app. A separate public server supports writing routines without sign-in; reads are answered by the phone.
Configuration
Remote servers need no local install. Pick your client, then copy the config or install in one click.

Servers that need sign-in will prompt on first connect.

From the project READMEMCP
Two servers, both Streamable HTTP without sessions.
| Server | Sign-in | For |
|---|---|---|
https://api.routinerun.com/mcp | OAuth 2.1 — a code typed into the app | Your own routines and runs |
https://api.routinerun.com/mcp/public | none | Writing a routine for somebody who has connected nothing, or has not got the app yet |
There is no account. Signing in to the first shows a short code; the person types it into Routine Run under Settings › Connections › Connect an assistant, and the phone itself approves the assistant. Removing that connection in the app signs it out at once. The sign-in page also offers a demo library, for trying it without the app.

What it will and will not do
- Reads are answered by the phone, not by a copy on a server. A phone that does not answer in about 20 seconds is said to have not answered.
- A new routine, or a change to one, is a suggestion: it waits on the phone until the person saves it, unless they have set that assistant to save without asking.
- Starting, planning, pausing and moving runs happen at once, and each is undone with one press.
- Notes and values are read only where the person has turned on Read notes and values for that assistant.
Registry entries
server.json and server-writer.json are the entries
in the official MCP registry, as
com.routinerun/routine-run and com.routinerun/routine-writer.

New to MCP?
From what the protocol is to installing your first server, these answers cover most first questions.
An open protocol that defines how AI applications connect to external tools and data in a uniform way. Clients talk to the model; MCP servers provide tools, resources and prompt templates. They exchange standard messages, so one server can be reused by many clients.
