CUSIP/ISIN Validator — Security Identifier Validation
LocalAbout CUSIP/ISIN Validator — Security Identifier Validation
This MCP server validates and parses CUSIP and ISIN security identifiers using checksum algorithms. It is intended for finance and trading workflows, and also offers a REST API and batch validation.
Key features
- 01Validate CUSIP identifiers
- 02Parse CUSIP components
- 03Validate ISIN identifiers
- 04Parse ISIN components and embedded US/CA CUSIP
- 05Batch-validate identifiers through REST API
Use cases
- 01Check security identifiers in trading workflows
- 02Extract issuer and issue details from a CUSIP
- 03Parse an ISIN and inspect its country code
- 04Validate multiple identifiers through the REST API
MCP support
Exposes four CUSIP and ISIN validation and parsing tools to MCP clients. Supports stdio by default and Streamable HTTP when `PORT` is set.
Configuration
Local server config is the same for every client. Copy it into your client’s MCP config file.
Tools
Local servers expose tools only once running on your machine, and the maintainer has not provided a tool list.
Details
From the project READMEMCP CUSIP/ISIN Server
A Model Context Protocol (MCP) server for validating and parsing CUSIP and ISIN security identifiers using check digit algorithms.
Tools (4 total)
| Tool | Description |
|---|---|
cusip_validate | Validate a 9-character CUSIP using the Luhn-variant check digit algorithm |
cusip_parse | Parse a CUSIP into issuer code, issue number, and check digit |
isin_validate | Validate a 12-character ISIN using the Luhn algorithm |
isin_parse | Parse an ISIN into country code, NSIN, and check digit (extracts embedded CUSIP for US/CA) |
Install
npx @easysolutions906/mcp-cusip-isin
Claude Desktop
Add to your claude_desktop_config.json:
{
"mcpServers": {
"cusip-isin": {
"command": "npx",
"args": ["-y", "@easysolutions906/mcp-cusip-isin"]
}
}
}
Cursor
Add to .cursor/mcp.json:
{
"mcpServers": {
"cusip-isin": {
"command": "npx",
"args": ["-y", "@easysolutions906/mcp-cusip-isin"]
}
}
}
REST API
Set PORT env var to run as an HTTP server.
GET /cusip/validate?cusip=037833100-- validate a CUSIPGET /cusip/parse?cusip=037833100-- parse CUSIP into componentsGET /isin/validate?isin=US0378331005-- validate an ISINGET /isin/parse?isin=US0378331005-- parse ISIN into componentsPOST /validate/batch-- batch validate multiple CUSIPs and ISINs
Data Source
Pure algorithm -- no external dataset required. CUSIP uses a Luhn-variant checksum; ISIN uses standard Luhn over letter-to-number conversion.
Transport
- stdio (default) -- for local use with Claude Desktop and Cursor
- HTTP -- set
PORTenv var to start in Streamable HTTP mode on/mcp

New to MCP?
From what the protocol is to installing your first server, these answers cover most first questions.
An open protocol that defines how AI applications connect to external tools and data in a uniform way. Clients talk to the model; MCP servers provide tools, resources and prompt templates. They exchange standard messages, so one server can be reused by many clients.
