About mcp-cryptography

mcp-cryptography is an MCP server that makes common cryptographic operations available to MCP clients. Its tools cover key generation, encryption, signatures, hashing, key derivation, certificates, and random data.

Key features

  1. 01Symmetric and RSA key generation
  2. 02Fernet and AES encryption
  3. 03RSA encryption and signatures
  4. 04SHA hashing and HMAC
  5. 05PBKDF2 and scrypt derivation
  6. 06X.509 certificate and random data tools

Use cases

  1. 01Generate keys for application workflows
  2. 02Encrypt or decrypt data with Fernet or AES
  3. 03Create and verify RSA signatures or HMACs
  4. 04Derive keys and inspect X.509 certificates

MCP support

Exposes cryptography tools to MCP clients, including key generation, encryption, signing, hashing, key derivation, certificate handling, and random data generation.

Configuration

Local server config is the same for every client. Copy it into your client’s MCP config file.

mcp.json · Universal config
{
"mcpServers": {
"daedalus-mcp-cryptography": {
"command": "uvx",
"args": [
"mcp-cryptography"
]
}
}
}
Run commanduvx mcp-cryptography

Local servers need a runtime on your machine (e.g. Node.js 18+). Config file locations differ by client; see your client’s docs.

New to MCP?

From what the protocol is to installing your first server, these answers cover most first questions.

An open protocol that defines how AI applications connect to external tools and data in a uniform way. Clients talk to the model; MCP servers provide tools, resources and prompt templates. They exchange standard messages, so one server can be reused by many clients.
