About slac-mcp

slac-mcp exposes the Simple Logic & Arithmetic Compiler (SLAC) as an MCP server for developers who need expression evaluation in LLM workflows. It provides evaluation and a full language reference.

Key features

  1. 01Compile and evaluate SLAC expressions
  2. 02Provide the complete syntax reference
  3. 03Return Rust Display or JSON output

Use cases

  1. 01Evaluate logic or arithmetic expressions from an agent
  2. 02Look up SLAC operator and function syntax

MCP support

The server provides `evaluate` and `get_syntax` tools to MCP clients over stdio.

Configuration

Local server config is the same for every client. Copy it into your client’s MCP config file.

mcp.json · Universal config
{
"mcpServers": {
"dennisprediger-slac": {
"command": "npx",
"args": [
"-y",
"slac-mcp"
]
}
}
}
Run commandnpx -y slac-mcp

Local servers need a runtime on your machine (e.g. Node.js 18+). Config file locations differ by client; see your client’s docs.

Packages
npmslac-mcp1.1.1

Tools

No tool list yet

Local servers expose tools only once running on your machine, and the maintainer has not provided a tool list.

Details

From the project README

slac-mcp

MCP server exposing SLAC (Simple Logic & Arithmetic Compiler) as tools for LLM agents.

Tools

ToolParametersDescription
evaluateexpression: stringCompiles and evaluates a SLAC expression, returns the result
get_syntaxnoneReturns the full SLAC language reference (syntax, operators, functions, examples)

Usage

cargo run

The server communicates over stdio using the Model Context Protocol.

Output Format

By default, evaluate returns the Rust Display representation of the result. Set OUTPUT_FORMAT=JSON to get serialized JSON instead

With MCP Inspector
npx @modelcontextprotocol/inspector cargo run
Example expressions
1 + 2
max(10, 20) + 1
'hello' + ' ' + 'world'
len('test') > 2 ? 'long' : 'short'

Development

cargo build
cargo run

Requires Rust 1.85+ (edition 2024).

New to MCP?

From what the protocol is to installing your first server, these answers cover most first questions.

An open protocol that defines how AI applications connect to external tools and data in a uniform way. Clients talk to the model; MCP servers provide tools, resources and prompt templates. They exchange standard messages, so one server can be reused by many clients.
