Configuration
Local server config is the same for every client. Copy it into your client’s MCP config file.
npx -y @txn-dev/mcp-serverTXN_API_KEYSecretAPI key from https://txn.dev/dashboard/api-keys. txn_test_ keys move sandbox money, txn_live_ keys move real money.Local servers need a runtime on your machine (e.g. Node.js 18+). Config file locations differ by client; see your client’s docs.

Details
From the project README@txn-dev/mcp-server
MCP server for txn.dev - let any AI assistant manage agent payments.
Works with Claude Desktop, Cursor, Windsurf, and any MCP-compatible client.
Setup
Add to your MCP client config:
{
"mcpServers": {
"txn": {
"command": "npx",
"args": ["-y", "@txn-dev/mcp-server"],
"env": {
"TXN_API_KEY": "txn_live_..."
}
}
}
}
Get your API key at txn.dev/dashboard/api-keys. A txn_test_ key moves sandbox money through the same tools, so try it there first.
Claude Code, in one line:
claude mcp add txn -e TXN_API_KEY=txn_test_... -- npx -y @txn-dev/mcp-server

From what the protocol is to installing your first server, these answers cover most first questions.
An open protocol that defines how AI applications connect to external tools and data in a uniform way. Clients talk to the model; MCP servers provide tools, resources and prompt templates. They exchange standard messages, so one server can be reused by many clients.
