π Electron Debug MCP Server
LocalAbout π Electron Debug MCP Server
Electron Debug MCP is an MCP server for coding agents that inspect and debug running Electron applications. It connects through Chrome DevTools Protocol and Node inspector, combining visual inspection, UI automation, runtime diagnostics, and main-process IPC observability.
Key features
- 01Inspect windows, DOM, and accessibility trees
- 02Automate UI actions and verify results
- 03Capture console, network, and process logs
- 04Profile performance and inspect memory
- 05Observe and invoke main-process IPC
- 06Audit Electron security settings
Use cases
- 01Diagnose an Electron runtime exception
- 02Automate and verify a desktop workflow
- 03Investigate failed network requests
- 04Check app performance and security
MCP support
Exposes Electron lifecycle, inspection, automation, debugging, and diagnostic tools to MCP clients. It communicates with renderer windows over CDP and can inspect the main process through Node inspector.
Configuration
Local server config is the same for every client. Copy it into your clientβs MCP config file.
We havenβt collected a package or remote endpoint for this server. Follow the instructions in the project README.
Tools
Local servers expose tools only once running on your machine, and the maintainer has not provided a tool list.

π Why Electron Debug MCP?
Most AI coding agents struggle with desktop applications: they can edit source code, but they cannot see the resulting window, click buttons, read console errors, or diagnose silent main-process crashes.
Electron Debug MCP bridges your agent directly into your Electron runtime via the Chrome DevTools Protocol (CDP) and Node inspector, unlocking full visual, interactive, and diagnostic autonomy.

CHANGELOG.md.
π§― Troubleshooting
| Symptom | Solution |
|---|---|
Electron failed to install correctly | Run npm run ensure-electron to verify and download the platform binary. |
Process not found | Omit processId when debugging a single app; the server resolves it automatically. |
Terminal hangs on node build/index.js | Normal: the server communicates over stdio JSON-RPC. Spawn it from your MCP client. |
| Main-process tools fail | Launch the app with inspectMain: true to open the Node inspector port. |
| Port in use / WSAEACCES on Windows | The server dynamically probes and selects ephemeral bindable ports to avoid Hyper-V/WSL conflicts. |
π Development & Verification
npm test # Run build, 140 unit tests, and full 111-tool smoke suite
npm run doctor # Verify environment health and port binding
npm run sync:readme # Automatically synchronize badge counts with registered tools

New to MCP?
From what the protocol is to installing your first server, these answers cover most first questions.
An open protocol that defines how AI applications connect to external tools and data in a uniform way. Clients talk to the model; MCP servers provide tools, resources and prompt templates. They exchange standard messages, so one server can be reused by many clients.
