About AIquila — Nextcloud MCP Server

AIquila is an MCP server for people who want an AI client to work with their Nextcloud instance. It exposes tools for files and many Nextcloud apps, with optional HTTP transport and OAuth for remote clients.

Key features

  1. 01Tools for files, shares, and users
  2. 02Calendar, contacts, mail, and tasks
  3. 03Support for optional Nextcloud apps
  4. 04Stdio and HTTP transports
  5. 05OAuth option for remote clients

Use cases

  1. 01Work with Nextcloud files through an AI client
  2. 02Access calendar and task operations
  3. 03Use mail, contacts, or Talk tools
  4. 04Connect remote clients over HTTP

MCP support

AIquila exposes Nextcloud operations as tools to MCP clients. It supports local stdio connections and HTTP transport, with optional OAuth for remote clients.

Configuration

Remote servers need no local install. Pick your client, then copy the config or install in one click.

Endpointhttps://{hostname}/mcp
Copy install command
Claude CodeTerminal
Cursor.cursor/mcp.json
VS Code.vscode/mcp.json
Claude Desktopclaude_desktop_config.json
Windsurf~/.codeium/windsurf/mcp_config.json

Run commands in a terminal; paste JSON into the client’s MCP config and restart. Servers that need sign-in will prompt on first connect.

AIquila MCP Server

MCP (Model Context Protocol) server that gives any MCP client full access to your Nextcloud instance — files, calendar, tasks, contacts, mail, talk, maps, bookmarks, notes, polls, forms, and more. 345 tools across 44 categories.

Quick Start

Stdio transport (local MCP clients)

Add to your MCP client configuration. Example for Claude Desktop (~/.config/claude/claude_desktop_config.json); Claude Code, Cursor and VS Code use the same server definition in their own config files:

{
	"mcpServers": {
		"aiquila": {
			"command": "npx",
			"args": ["-y", "aiquila-mcp"],
			"env": {
				"NEXTCLOUD_URL": "https://your-nextcloud.example.com",
				"NEXTCLOUD_USER": "your-username",
				"NEXTCLOUD_PASSWORD": "your-app-password"
			}
		}
	}
}

Generate an App Password in Nextcloud: Settings → Security → Devices & sessions.

HTTP transport (Docker, remote MCP clients)

See the Docker setup guide for running AIquila as an HTTP server with OAuth for remote MCP clients such as Claude.ai.

Which AI model does this use?

None. This server has no model of its own and no provider setting — it exposes your Nextcloud to whatever MCP client you point at it, and that client brings its own model. Provider choice (Claude, Hetzner Inference, Mistral, a local model, DeepSeek) belongs to the AIquila Nextcloud app, which is a separate component.

New to MCP?

From what the protocol is to installing your first server, these answers cover most first questions.

An open protocol that defines how AI applications connect to external tools and data in a uniform way. Clients talk to the model; MCP servers provide tools, resources and prompt templates. They exchange standard messages, so one server can be reused by many clients.
