About Esp Mcp Server
Esp Mcp Server is an embeddable HTTP MCP server for Espressif’s AI-assisted development tool. It lets developers ask technical questions about Espressif chips, ESP-IDF, and related documentation.
Key features
- 01HTTP MCP server
- 02Answers Espressif technical questions
- 03Covers chips, ESP-IDF, and documentation
- 04Docker-based startup instructions
Use cases
- 01Ask questions about Espressif chips
- 02Look up ESP-IDF documentation
- 03Connect Espressif queries to VSCode or Cursor
MCP support
It implements MCP over HTTP and exposes the esp_docs_ai tool, which accepts a query about Espressif technologies and documentation.
Configuration
Remote servers need no local install. Pick your client, then copy the config or install in one click.

How to Use
Step #1: You can start the server using Docker:
docker run -p 8080:8080 kolipakakondal/esp-mcp-server:latest
This will launch the server and expose it on http://127.0.0.1:8080.
Step #2: Integration in IDE's (VSCode/Cursor)
Configure your tools to use the MCP server with the following structure:
Cursor IDE
"esp-mcp-server": {
"url": " http://127.0.0.1:8080/mcp",
"env": {
"API_KEY": "<API_KEY_HERE>"
}
VSCode
"esp-mcp-server": {
"type": "sse",
"url": "http://127.0.0.1:8080/mcp",
"env": {
"API_KEY": "<API_KEY_HERE>"
}
}
Supported Tools
- esp_docs_ai: Ask technical questions about espressif chips, esp-idf and related documents. Parameters: query

New to MCP?
From what the protocol is to installing your first server, these answers cover most first questions.
An open protocol that defines how AI applications connect to external tools and data in a uniform way. Clients talk to the model; MCP servers provide tools, resources and prompt templates. They exchange standard messages, so one server can be reused by many clients.
