About RPC MCP Server
RPC MCP Server gives AI models a standard interface to EVM-compatible blockchains. It is for users who need to read chain data or call contracts through a configured RPC endpoint.
Key features
- 01Connect to EVM-compatible RPC endpoints
- 02Query the current block number
- 03Check account balances and transaction counts
- 04Retrieve block and transaction details
- 05Make contract calls
Use cases
- 01Check the latest block on an EVM network
- 02Inspect an account balance and nonce
- 03Look up a transaction or block
- 04Read data through a smart contract call
MCP support
The MCP server exposes EVM RPC operations as tools for clients to query blocks, accounts, and transactions, and to make contract calls.
Configuration
Local server config is the same for every client. Copy it into your client’s MCP config file.
Tools
Local servers expose tools only once running on your machine, and the maintainer has not provided a tool list.
Details
From the project READMERPC MCP Server
This is a Model Context Protocol (MCP) server implementation for interacting with any EVM-compatible RPC endpoint. It provides a standardized interface for AI models to interact with Ethereum and EVM-compatible blockchains.
Features
- Support for any EVM-compatible RPC endpoint
- Get current block number
- Check account balances
- Get transaction counts (nonces)
- Retrieve block information
- Get transaction details
- Make contract calls
Prerequisites
- Node.js (v16 or higher)
- npm (Node Package Manager)
Installation
- Clone the repository:
git clone <repository-url>
cd rpc-mcp
- Install dependencies:
npm install
- Build the project:
npm run build
- Install globally:
npm install -g .
This global installation makes the rpc-mcp command available system-wide, which is required for Cursor to find and execute the MCP server.
Configuration
The server uses the following environment variable:
RPC_URL: The RPC endpoint URL to connect to (e.g., 'https://mainnet-rpc.game7.io' or 'https://testnet-rpc.game7.io')API_URL: The API endpoint URL to connect to (e.g., 'https://mainnet.game7.io/api/v2' or 'https://testnet.game7.io/api/v2')
Cursor MCP Configuration
Add the following to your mcp.json file in your Cursor (Settings > MCP > Add New Global Server):
{
"mcpServers": {
"rpc-mcp": {
"command": "npx",
"args": ["-y", "rpc-mcp"],
"env": {
"RPC_URL": "YOUR_RPC_ENDPOINT",
"API_URL": "YOUR_API_ENDPOINT"
}
}
}
}
This configuration will make the following tools available in Cursor:
eth_blockNumbereth_getBalanceeth_getTransactionCounteth_getBlockByNumbereth_getTransactionByHasheth_calltrace_transaction
Comments
New to MCP?
From what the protocol is to installing your first server, these answers cover most first questions.
An open protocol that defines how AI applications connect to external tools and data in a uniform way. Clients talk to the model; MCP servers provide tools, resources and prompt templates. They exchange standard messages, so one server can be reused by many clients.
