MCP support
The hosted MCP server exposes tools for searching, personalizing, previewing, sharing, and ordering cards, as well as checking orders. It connects to MCP clients over Streamable HTTP and uses OAuth 2.1 with a ModCard account.
Configuration
Remote servers need no local install. Pick your client, then copy the config or install in one click.

ModCard MCP server
Find, personalize, share, and mail animated greeting cards with original music, from any AI assistant that supports MCP.
ModCard is a catalog of animated greeting cards, each with its own original song. Connect it to your assistant and ask for the card you need, such as "a funny birthday card for my dad who loves fishing". The assistant searches the catalog, makes your own copy with your message and names, and shows you a private preview. Then it can make an eCard link for you to share, or set up a printed card mailed to a US address. You pay at a secure Stripe checkout page.
Everything works by voice. You never need to look at a screen to finish an order.
This repository holds setup instructions only. The server is hosted by ModCard; there is nothing to install or run.
Server
| URL | https://api.modcard.fun/api/mcp |
| Transport | Streamable HTTP |
| Sign-in | OAuth 2.1 with your ModCard account (free to create in the sign-in window). No API key. |
| Registry | fun.modcard/modcard in the official MCP Registry |
Connect
The first time your assistant connects, a browser window opens. Sign in to ModCard, or create an account with Google, Apple, or email, and approve access once.
Claude (claude.ai and the desktop app): Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector, then paste the URL above.
Claude Code:
claude mcp add --transport http modcard https://api.modcard.fun/api/mcp
ChatGPT: go to chatgpt.com/plugins, select + → Add custom MCP server, paste the URL, and choose OAuth.
VS Code: add config/vscode-mcp.json to .vscode/mcp.json:
{
"servers": {
"modcard": { "type": "http", "url": "https://api.modcard.fun/api/mcp" }
}
}
Cursor: add config/cursor-mcp.json to ~/.cursor/mcp.json:
{
"mcpServers": {
"modcard": { "url": "https://api.modcard.fun/api/mcp" }
}
}
Any other MCP client that supports remote servers with OAuth works the same way: point it at the URL.
Try it
- "Find a funny birthday card for my dad. He's turning 60 and loves fishing."
- "Use that one. Write 'Happy 60th, Dad! Love, Sam' inside."
- "Give me an eCard link I can text him."
- "Mail a printed one to my aunt in Portland."
- "Has my last order shipped?"
Tools
| Tool | What it does |
|---|---|
start | Your name, settings, and drafts to pick up again. |
find_cards | Search cards by occasion, recipient, age, interests, or city. |
list_card_filters | The occasions, tones, styles, and music genres search accepts. |
make_card | Your copy of a card with message, names, and color in one step. |
create_draft | Make your own copy of a catalog card to edit. |
personalize_card | Put the recipient's name into the song and voice. |
set_card_message | Write the message inside the card. |
set_card_color | Pick one of the card's color versions. |
get_card | A card's details, pictures, preview link, and print options. |
create_share | Make an eCard link to send yourself. |
checkout_card | Order a printed, mailed card; you pay at a secure link. |
pay_for_card | Pay with your saved credit card, only if you turned that on (not in Claude). |
get_order_status | Whether an order is paid, printed, or mailed. |
list_my_orders | Your recent orders. |
get_add_credit_card_link | A secure Stripe link where you save a credit card. |
Safe by default
- Your assistant sees only your own cards and orders.
- It can't pay unless you turn that on in your ModCard profile, and then only with a credit card you saved, up to a per-order cap. Otherwise every order comes to you as a checkout link.
- It never sees credit card numbers; Stripe handles them.
- It can use your saved address without seeing it in full.
- You can disconnect it at any time by removing the connector.
In Claude, a few things work differently: Claude can't make payments (you always get a checkout link), names are added to the song only from our recorded name library, and a different music style is available only when that version of the card already exists.

New to MCP?
From what the protocol is to installing your first server, these answers cover most first questions.
An open protocol that defines how AI applications connect to external tools and data in a uniform way. Clients talk to the model; MCP servers provide tools, resources and prompt templates. They exchange standard messages, so one server can be reused by many clients.
