About Gaphor MCP Server
Gaphor MCP Server is a concept for connecting MCP clients with Gaphor models. It is intended for querying and editing model elements and creating diagrams, including workflows that validate models against code in coding environments.
Key features
- 01Query model contents
- 02Add and modify model elements
- 03Create diagrams
- 04Validate models against code
Use cases
- 01Inspect a model from a coding environment
- 02Update model elements
- 03Check model documentation against code
MCP support
The proposed MCP server would expose Gaphor model operations to MCP clients, including querying and changing elements and creating diagrams.
Configuration
Local server config is the same for every client. Copy it into your client’s MCP config file.
We haven’t collected a package or remote endpoint for this server. Follow the instructions in the project README.
Tools
Local servers expose tools only once running on your machine, and the maintainer has not provided a tool list.
Details
From the project READMEGaphor MCP Server
This repo contains a concept for an MCP (Model Context Protocol) server that works with Gaphor models.
The idea is that you can query the model, add and modify elements in the model. It should be able to create a variety of diagrams.
If used in a coding environment, such as VSCode, this can help you to validate models with the actual code, check if the model is properly documented, and probably much more.

From what the protocol is to installing your first server, these answers cover most first questions.
An open protocol that defines how AI applications connect to external tools and data in a uniform way. Clients talk to the model; MCP servers provide tools, resources and prompt templates. They exchange standard messages, so one server can be reused by many clients.
