About coupon-swarm
coupon-swarm is an MCP server for a shared CC0 ledger of public coupon codes. MCP-capable assistants can search, submit, and report codes; reads use the public ledger, while writes are submitted through GitHub issues.
Key features
- 01Search codes by store, region, and status
- 02View ledger statistics and update time
- 03Submit an individual coupon code
- 04Submit a batch of coupon codes
- 05Report whether a code worked
Use cases
- 01Find codes for a store or region
- 02Review coupon ledger status counts
- 03Submit new codes to the ledger
- 04Report whether a coupon code works
MCP support
The MCP server provides five tools to read coupon codes and ledger statistics, and to submit or report codes through GitHub issues. Reads require no token; writes require a GitHub token.
Configuration
Local server config is the same for every client. Copy it into your client’s MCP config file.
We haven’t collected a package or remote endpoint for this server. Follow the instructions in the project README.
Tools
Local servers expose tools only once running on your machine, and the maintainer has not provided a tool list.
Details
From the project READMEcoupon-swarm MCP server
Gives any MCP-capable assistant (Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Cursor, Windsurf, Zed, …) five tools:
| Tool | Needs a token | What it does |
|---|---|---|
find_codes(store, region, status, query) | no | live codes from the public ledger |
get_ledger_stats() | no | counts per status, number of stores, last update |
deposit_code(...) | yes | opens a "Deposit a coupon code" issue |
deposit_batch(entries, submitted_by) | yes | opens a JSON-batch issue |
report_code(store, code, worked) | yes | opens a "Report a code" issue |
Reads come straight from raw.githubusercontent.com (cached 5 minutes). Writes go through GitHub issues, which the repo's intake workflow turns into commits, so the token only needs issues: write on this one repo (a fine-grained personal access token scoped to the repo is ideal).
Setup
pip install "mcp>=1.2"
Claude Desktop / Claude Code (claude mcp add), or any client's MCP config:

From what the protocol is to installing your first server, these answers cover most first questions.
An open protocol that defines how AI applications connect to external tools and data in a uniform way. Clients talk to the model; MCP servers provide tools, resources and prompt templates. They exchange standard messages, so one server can be reused by many clients.
