About Oculo
Oculo is an Electron-based browser with a built-in MCP server for clients to inspect and operate web pages. Seven tools cover browsing tasks, with compact page descriptions and controls for permissions, privacy, and auditing.
Key features
- 01Seven MCP tools for browser control
- 02Compact page descriptions
- 03Navigate, click, and type on pages
- 04Fill forms and extract structured data
- 05Tiered permissions, PII redaction, and audit log
- 06Sandboxed browser-side JavaScript
Use cases
- 01Let an agent browse and operate web pages
- 02Fill web forms by field labels
- 03Extract page lists, tables, and cards
- 04Run browser scripts with permission controls
MCP support
Oculo embeds an HTTP MCP server and connects MCP clients through a stdio bridge. It exposes tools for reading and operating pages, filling forms, extracting data, running pipelines, generating media, and executing scripts.
Configuration
Local server config is the same for every client. Copy it into your client’s MCP config file.
We haven’t collected a package or remote endpoint for this server. Follow the instructions in the project README.
Tools
Local servers expose tools only once running on your machine, and the maintainer has not provided a tool list.

What is Oculo?
Oculo is a native, AI-first browser (built on Electron) that plugs into any MCP client and lets your AI assistant see and operate real web pages — read the page, click, type, fill forms, navigate, screenshot, and generate media.
Point Claude Code, Cursor, Windsurf, Zed, or any MCP-compatible client at Oculo and it gains a browser it can actually drive.
Cursor : VS Code :: Oculo : Chrome
Why it's different
- Token-lean by design. A full page description is about ~30 tokens — headings, forms, buttons, and links, not raw DOM. Your agent stays cheap and fast.
- 7 tools, not 70. One small, composable tool set (
pageactfillreadrunmediashell) covers browsing end to end. - Any MCP client. No lock-in — Oculo speaks standard MCP over stdio, so it works everywhere MCP does.
- Privacy-first. A 4-tier permission gate, PII redaction, anti-injection guards, an audit log, and a Keychain-backed credential vault sit between the agent and your data.
How it works
Oculo runs as a normal desktop browser with an embedded HTTP MCP server. A tiny stdio bridge (mcp/oculo-mcp.mjs) connects your MCP client to it — the app publishes its port and auth token to ~/.oculo-port, and the bridge reads that to connect.
Features
- AI Chat Panel — multi-provider: Claude, OpenAI, Gemini, Grok, OpenClaw, Ollama.
- 7 MCP Tools — universal MCP integration, ~30 tokens per page description.
- Media Generation — Nano Banana images, Veo 3.1 video.
- Smart Auth — credential vault (macOS Keychain), auto-login, TOTP 2FA.
- Privacy & Security — 4-tier permission gate, PII redaction, anti-injection, audit log.
- Voice Control — on-device Whisper speech-to-text for voice commands.
- Shell — run browser-side JavaScript, sandboxed and permission-gated.

Launch the Oculo app first, then wire up your client.
Claude Code
claude mcp add oculo -- node /path/to/mcp/oculo-mcp.mjs
Cursor — add to .cursor/mcp.json:
{
"mcpServers": {
"oculo": {
"command": "node",
"args": ["/path/to/mcp/oculo-mcp.mjs"]
}
}
}
Any stdio MCP client — point it at node /path/to/mcp/oculo-mcp.mjs over the stdio transport.
The 7 tools

New to MCP?
From what the protocol is to installing your first server, these answers cover most first questions.
An open protocol that defines how AI applications connect to external tools and data in a uniform way. Clients talk to the model; MCP servers provide tools, resources and prompt templates. They exchange standard messages, so one server can be reused by many clients.
