About GitHub Agentic Chat MCP Server
GitHub Agentic Chat MCP Server is a Go-based MCP server for interacting with GitHub through natural language. It combines repository search and issue creation with semantic search over documents stored using pgvector.
Key features
- 01Search GitHub repositories
- 02Create GitHub issues
- 03Add documents to a vector store
- 04Run semantic search on stored documents
- 05Extend the server with more features
Use cases
- 01Find GitHub repositories with a query
- 02Create an issue in a repository
- 03Store documents and retrieve them semantically
MCP support
The MCP server exposes GitHub and vector search tools to Claude Desktop and other MCP clients, including repository search, issue creation, document addition, and semantic search.
Configuration
Local server config is the same for every client. Copy it into your client’s MCP config file.
We haven’t collected a package or remote endpoint for this server. Follow the instructions in the project README.
Tools
Local servers expose tools only once running on your machine, and the maintainer has not provided a tool list.

From what the protocol is to installing your first server, these answers cover most first questions.
An open protocol that defines how AI applications connect to external tools and data in a uniform way. Clients talk to the model; MCP servers provide tools, resources and prompt templates. They exchange standard messages, so one server can be reused by many clients.
