About GitLab-MCP-Server

GitLab-MCP-Server connects GitLab with AI assistants, providing information about failed pipelines and merge requests for the current branch. It is intended for troubleshooting and code review, including comparisons against the current local repository state.

Key features

  1. 01Retrieve failed pipeline job logs
  2. 02Read unresolved MR comments
  3. 03Compare MR changes with the local working tree

Use cases

  1. 01Diagnose build failures from job logs
  2. 02Address unresolved comments on an MR
  3. 03Review local changes, including uncommitted work

MCP support

This MCP server exposes tools for retrieving GitLab pipeline failure logs, unresolved MR comments, and change diffs to MCP clients.

Configuration

Local server config is the same for every client. Copy it into your client’s MCP config file.

No install method listed yet

We haven’t collected a package or remote endpoint for this server. Follow the instructions in the project README.

GitLab-MCP-Server

# uvのインストール
$ curl -LsSf https://astral.sh/uv/install.sh | sh

$ cd /path/to/this-mcp-server
# ライブラリのインストール
$ uv sync

1. パイプラインの失敗情報を取得して修正 (get_pipeline_failed_jobs)

2. MRの指摘事項を取得して修正 (get_review_comments)

3. MRの変更内容を取得してレビュー (get_review_changes)

  • get_pipeline_failed_jobs(): パイプラインの失敗情報取得
  • get_review_comments(): MRの指摘事項取得
  • get_review_changes(): MRの変更内容取得

Claude for Desktopでの設定

claude_desktop_config.json に以下の設定を追加してください:

    "mcpServers": {
        "gitlab-mcp": {
            "command": "uv",
            "args": [
                "--directory",
                "/path/to/this-mcp-server",
                "run",
                "main.py"
            ],

New to MCP?

From what the protocol is to installing your first server, these answers cover most first questions.

An open protocol that defines how AI applications connect to external tools and data in a uniform way. Clients talk to the model; MCP servers provide tools, resources and prompt templates. They exchange standard messages, so one server can be reused by many clients.
