Tools
16| Parameter | Type | Required | Description |
|---|---|---|---|
| html | string | Yes | The HTML source to render into a PDF. |
| inline | boolean | No | If true (Api2Pdf default), the generated file is served inline; if false, as an attachment. |
| options | object | No | Engine-specific render options (page size, margins, orientation, headers/footers, etc.). Passed through verbatim to Api2Pdf. |
| storage | object | No | Custom storage target, used when useCustomStorage is true. |
| storage.url | string | No | Pre-signed destination URL for the upload. |
| storage.method | string | No | HTTP method Api2Pdf uses to upload (e.g. 'PUT'). |
| fileName | string | No | A name for the generated file, e.g. 'invoice.pdf'. |
| output_binary | boolean | No | If true, return the raw file bytes as base64 instead of a FileUrl. Default false (recommended for agents — returns a short-lived link). |
| extraHTTPHeaders | object | No | Extra HTTP headers Api2Pdf forwards when it fetches a source URL (e.g. auth for a protected page/file). |
| useCustomStorage | boolean | No | If true, Api2Pdf uploads the result to your own storage (see `storage`) instead of hosting it. |

Connect
- Claude (claude.ai, Desktop): open Customize → Connectors, click + Add → Add custom connector, and paste
https://api2pdf.usefulapi.io/mcp. - Claude Code:
claude mcp add --transport http api2pdf https://api2pdf.usefulapi.io/mcp, then run/mcpto log in. - VS Code: Add to VS Code.
- Cursor and other clients: add the URL as a remote MCP server:
{
"mcpServers": {
"api2pdf": {
"url": "https://api2pdf.usefulapi.io/mcp"
}
}
}
Add only the URL. Do not add an Authorization header or an API key to the client config: the server signs you in with OAuth, and the login page asks for your Api2Pdf credentials.
Step-by-step setup, where to find your credentials, and FAQ: https://usefulapi.io/api2pdf/
On first connect you'll paste your Api2Pdf API key. It's validated, stored per-user, and scoped to you.

New to MCP?
From what the protocol is to installing your first server, these answers cover most first questions.
An open protocol that defines how AI applications connect to external tools and data in a uniform way. Clients talk to the model; MCP servers provide tools, resources and prompt templates. They exchange standard messages, so one server can be reused by many clients.
