About Civo MCP by usefulapi
Civo MCP by usefulapi is a hosted interface to Civo for MCP clients that need to inspect cloud resources and perform selected operations. It uses OAuth sign-in with the user's Civo credentials and requires no local installation.
Key features
- 01Inspect instances, clusters, and networks
- 02Read databases, DNS, and load balancers
- 03Start, stop, and reboot instances
- 04Set instance tags
- 05Manage firewall rules and DNS records
Use cases
- 01Check account quotas and charges
- 02Review Kubernetes clusters and instance status
- 03Reboot or adjust cloud instances
- 04Add firewall rules or DNS records
MCP support
This hosted MCP server exposes read and write tools for Civo resources to MCP clients. Users connect by signing in with Civo credentials through OAuth.
Configuration
Remote servers need no local install. Pick your client, then copy the config or install in one click.

Details
From the project READMECivo MCP by usefulapi
Use Civo from Claude, Cursor, or any MCP client — list instances, Kubernetes clusters, networks, databases and DNS, and reboot or tag instances. Hosted, no local install: connect with your own Civo credentials.
Live endpoint: https://civo.usefulapi.io/mcp · Homepage: https://usefulapi.io/civo
Connect
- Claude (claude.ai, Desktop): open Customize → Connectors, click + Add → Add custom connector, and paste
https://civo.usefulapi.io/mcp. - Claude Code:
claude mcp add --transport http civo https://civo.usefulapi.io/mcp, then run/mcpto log in. - VS Code: Add to VS Code.
- Cursor and other clients: add the URL as a remote MCP server:
{
"mcpServers": {
"civo": {
"url": "https://civo.usefulapi.io/mcp"
}
}
}
Add only the URL. Do not add an Authorization header or an API key to the client config: the server signs you in with OAuth, and the login page asks for your Civo credentials.
Step-by-step setup, where to find your credentials, and FAQ: https://usefulapi.io/civo/
On first connect you'll provide your Civo API key (Civo dashboard → Settings → Profile → Security), plus an optional default region. They're validated, stored per-user, and scoped to you — no keys in config files.

New to MCP?
From what the protocol is to installing your first server, these answers cover most first questions.
An open protocol that defines how AI applications connect to external tools and data in a uniform way. Clients talk to the model; MCP servers provide tools, resources and prompt templates. They exchange standard messages, so one server can be reused by many clients.
