About deSEC MCP by usefulapi
deSEC MCP by usefulapi is a hosted MCP server for accessing deSEC domains and DNS data from MCP clients. It supports guarded creation or replacement of a single RRset and uses OAuth sign-in with the user's deSEC credentials, with no local installation.
Key features
- 01List and inspect domains
- 02Export zone files
- 03View RRsets
- 04Create or replace an RRset
- 05Check usage status
Use cases
- 01Inspect domains and DNSSEC-related data
- 02Export a zone file for review
- 03Add or replace a single DNS record set
MCP support
Exposes tools to MCP clients for reading deSEC domains, zone files, and RRsets, and for creating or replacing RRsets.
Configuration
Remote servers need no local install. Pick your client, then copy the config or install in one click.

From the project READMEdeSEC MCP by usefulapi
Use deSEC from Claude, Cursor, or any MCP client — domains, DNSSEC keys, zone files and RRsets, plus guarded single-RRset writes. Hosted, no local install: connect with your own deSEC credentials.
Live endpoint: https://desec.usefulapi.io/mcp · Homepage: https://usefulapi.io/desec
Connect
- Claude (claude.ai, Desktop): open Customize → Connectors, click + Add → Add custom connector, and paste
https://desec.usefulapi.io/mcp. - Claude Code:
claude mcp add --transport http desec https://desec.usefulapi.io/mcp, then run/mcpto log in. - VS Code: Add to VS Code.
- Cursor and other clients: add the URL as a remote MCP server:
{
"mcpServers": {
"desec": {
"url": "https://desec.usefulapi.io/mcp"
}
}
}
Add only the URL. Do not add an Authorization header or an API key to the client config: the server signs you in with OAuth, and the login page asks for your deSEC credentials.

New to MCP?
From what the protocol is to installing your first server, these answers cover most first questions.
An open protocol that defines how AI applications connect to external tools and data in a uniform way. Clients talk to the model; MCP servers provide tools, resources and prompt templates. They exchange standard messages, so one server can be reused by many clients.
