About Particle Health MCP by usefulapi
A hosted MCP server for querying Particle Health patient records across connected clinical networks. Its tools retrieve patient data in FHIR, flattened and C-CDA formats, and support patient and network searches.
Key features
- 01Search and retrieve patient records
- 02Check query status
- 03Retrieve FHIR bundles and resources
- 04Get flattened clinical data and C-CDA documents
- 05Search network participants and patient documents
Use cases
- 01Find a patient across connected networks
- 02Retrieve clinical data in FHIR or C-CDA
- 03Check the status of a clinical-record query
- 04Locate network participants or patient documents
MCP support
Exposes Particle Health patient-search and record-query tools to MCP clients through a hosted endpoint. It also provides write tools to register a patient and create a clinical-record query.
Configuration
Remote servers need no local install. Pick your client, then copy the config or install in one click.

Connect
- Claude (claude.ai, Desktop): open Customize → Connectors, click + Add → Add custom connector, and paste
https://particlehealth.usefulapi.io/mcp. - Claude Code:
claude mcp add --transport http particlehealth https://particlehealth.usefulapi.io/mcp, then run/mcpto log in. - VS Code: Add to VS Code.
- Cursor and other clients: add the URL as a remote MCP server:
{
"mcpServers": {
"particlehealth": {
"url": "https://particlehealth.usefulapi.io/mcp"
}
}
}
Add only the URL. Do not add an Authorization header or an API key to the client config: the server signs you in with OAuth, and the login page asks for your Particle Health credentials.
Step-by-step setup, where to find your credentials, and FAQ: https://usefulapi.io/particlehealth/
On first connect you'll paste your Particle Health credentials. They are validated, stored per-user, and scoped to you — no keys in config files.

New to MCP?
From what the protocol is to installing your first server, these answers cover most first questions.
An open protocol that defines how AI applications connect to external tools and data in a uniform way. Clients talk to the model; MCP servers provide tools, resources and prompt templates. They exchange standard messages, so one server can be reused by many clients.
