MCP support

Exposes read and write shipping tools to MCP clients through a remote MCP endpoint. OAuth sign-in uses Shippit credentials, with a choice of production or staging environment.

Configuration

Remote servers need no local install. Pick your client, then copy the config or install in one click.

Connect

  • Claude (claude.ai, Desktop): open Customize → Connectors, click + Add → Add custom connector, and paste https://shippit.usefulapi.io/mcp.
  • Claude Code: claude mcp add --transport http shippit https://shippit.usefulapi.io/mcp, then run /mcp to log in.
  • VS Code: Add to VS Code.
  • Cursor and other clients: add the URL as a remote MCP server:
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "shippit": {
      "url": "https://shippit.usefulapi.io/mcp"
    }
  }
}

Add only the URL. Do not add an Authorization header or an API key to the client config: the server signs you in with OAuth, and the login page asks for your Shippit credentials.

Step-by-step setup, where to find your credentials, and FAQ: https://usefulapi.io/shippit/

On first connect you'll paste your Shippit API key and choose the environment (production or staging).

New to MCP?

From what the protocol is to installing your first server, these answers cover most first questions.

An open protocol that defines how AI applications connect to external tools and data in a uniform way. Clients talk to the model; MCP servers provide tools, resources and prompt templates. They exchange standard messages, so one server can be reused by many clients.
