Configuration

Local server config is the same for every client. Copy it into your client’s MCP config file.

Environment variables to set
AGENT_PRIVATE_KEYSecretPrivate key of your own EVM wallet holding USDC on Base, used to pay for paid tools. Optional: without it only the free catalog tool returns data. Use a dedicated low-balance wallet, never a main wallet. It is read locally to sign payments and is not sent anywhere.
MAX_USDC_PER_CALLThe most, in US dollars, the server will pay for a single call. A request priced above this is refused. Must be a positive number. The default is $2.00, which covers every resource today (the dearest is $0.50) and the $2.00 Analyst pack.
BLOCKCHAINIQ_BASE_URLBase URL of the API. Only change this to test against another deployment.
BLOCKCHAINIQ_NETWORKThe one network the wallet will pay on: base (Base mainnet) or base-sepolia (testnet, only for a test deployment). Payment requests on any other network are refused.

Local servers need a runtime on your machine (e.g. Node.js 18+). Config file locations differ by client; see your client’s docs.

New to MCP?

From what the protocol is to installing your first server, these answers cover most first questions.

An open protocol that defines how AI applications connect to external tools and data in a uniform way. Clients talk to the model; MCP servers provide tools, resources and prompt templates. They exchange standard messages, so one server can be reused by many clients.
