About AgentBreakWatch

AgentBreakWatch is an MCP server for tracking stability across AI Agent SDKs and MCP servers in npm and PyPI. It reports version changes, tool-schema drift risks, and migration guidance to help developers audit stacks and address breaking changes.

Key features

  1. 01Check configuration for version drift
  2. 02Query package stability and schema risk
  3. 03List rapidly changing packages
  4. 04Find replacements for archived servers
  5. 05Provide version pins and migration examples

Use cases

  1. 01Audit .mcp.json or dependency manifests
  2. 02Assess the risk of an SDK or server
  3. 03Find dependencies changing rapidly
  4. 04Replace an archived MCP server

MCP support

AgentBreakWatch exposes MCP tools through a hosted Streamable HTTP endpoint or a local stdio server for package stability, drift, and migration queries.

Configuration

Remote servers need no local install. Pick your client, then copy the config or install in one click.

Endpointhttps://agentbreakwatch.com/api/mcp
Copy install command
Claude CodeTerminal
Cursor.cursor/mcp.json
VS Code.vscode/mcp.json
Claude Desktopclaude_desktop_config.json
Windsurf~/.codeium/windsurf/mcp_config.json

Run commands in a terminal; paste JSON into the client’s MCP config and restart. Servers that need sign-in will prompt on first connect.

From the project README

AgentBreakWatch MCP Server (agentbreakwatch-mcp)

Official Model Context Protocol (MCP) server for AgentBreakWatch, the live breaking-change and tools/list JSON Schema drift telemetry index across 30 core AI Agent SDKs and 226 MCP servers (256 total tracked packages) on npm and PyPI.

Quick Connect (Zero-Install Remote MCP)

Add the hosted Streamable HTTP endpoint directly to your .mcp.json, Cursor, Claude Code, or Claude Desktop config with zero local dependencies:

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "agentbreakwatch": {
      "url": "https://agentbreakwatch.com/api/mcp"
    }
  }
}

Or run locally via npx (stdio transport):

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "agentbreakwatch": {
      "command": "npx",
      "args": ["-y", "agentbreakwatch-mcp"]
    }
  }
}

Available MCP Tools

  1. check_stack_drift: Pass the raw contents of a .mcp.json, package.json, or requirements.txt file to detect breaking major version jumps, unpinned @latest MCP servers, and archived packages, with exact version pin commands.
  2. get_package_stability: Retrieve live npm/PyPI version, publish date, 90-day release velocity, 0-100 stability score, tools/list schema drift risk, and copy-paste before/after migration code for any of the 256 tracked packages.
  3. list_volatile_packages: Query the fastest-changing Agent SDKs and MCP servers over the last 90 days, optionally filtered by kind (sdk or mcp) or ecosystem category.
  4. get_archived_mcp_replacements: Retrieve the migration matrix for archived @modelcontextprotocol/server-* packages (server-github, server-postgres, server-puppeteer, server-brave-search, server-redis) and their official 2026 vendor-maintained replacements.

New to MCP?

From what the protocol is to installing your first server, these answers cover most first questions.

An open protocol that defines how AI applications connect to external tools and data in a uniform way. Clients talk to the model; MCP servers provide tools, resources and prompt templates. They exchange standard messages, so one server can be reused by many clients.
