About JSON MCP

JSON MCP is an MCP server for LLMs to work with JSON files. Its documented tools split and merge files and find or validate data against conditions.

Key features

  1. 01Split JSON files
  2. 02Merge JSON files
  3. 03Find data in JSON
  4. 04Validate data by conditions

Use cases

  1. 01Divide a JSON file into object groups
  2. 02Combine JSON files from a folder
  3. 03Find specific JSON data
  4. 04Check JSON data against conditions

MCP support

It exposes JSON file operations as tools for MCP clients, including splitting and merging; the README also describes finding and validating data.

Configuration

Local server config is the same for every client. Copy it into your client’s MCP config file.

mcp.json · Universal config
{
"mcpServers": {
"json": {
"command": "npx",
"args": [
"-y",
"json-mcp-server"
]
}
}
}
Run commandnpx -y json-mcp-server

Local servers need a runtime on your machine (e.g. Node.js 18+). Config file locations differ by client; see your client’s docs.

From what the protocol is to installing your first server, these answers cover most first questions.

An open protocol that defines how AI applications connect to external tools and data in a uniform way. Clients talk to the model; MCP servers provide tools, resources and prompt templates. They exchange standard messages, so one server can be reused by many clients.
