About Kora

Kora is an MCP server for AI agents that need authorization before making financial transactions. It checks spending against budgets and returns cryptographically signed approvals or denials through a deterministic process.

Key features

  1. 01Authorize spending requests
  2. 02Check daily and monthly budgets
  3. 03Review recent authorizations
  4. 04Inspect mandate audit trails
  5. 05Check server health and version

Use cases

  1. 01Gate an agent’s AWS purchase against a budget
  2. 02Check remaining spend before a transaction
  3. 03Review authorization history for a mandate

MCP support

Exposes Kora spending authorization, budget, activity, health, and audit operations as tools for MCP clients. Spending decisions are returned as approvals or denials with a cryptographic seal.

Configuration

Local server config is the same for every client. Copy it into your client’s MCP config file.

Kora MCP Server

The Deterministic Authorization Gate for AI Agents

Kora provides a cryptographically secure Go/No-Go layer for autonomous software. This Model Context Protocol (MCP) server enables LLMs (Claude, GPT-4, Cursor) to request explicit permission before initiating financial actions.

kora-mcp-server

MCP server for Kora — give any MCP client governed spending in seconds.

Zero code. Add Kora as an MCP server. Your AI agent gets budget-checked, Ed25519-signed spending with no SDK integration needed.

Install

pip install kora-mcp-server

Configure Claude Desktop

Add to ~/Library/Application Support/Claude/claude_desktop_config.json:

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "kora": {
      "command": "kora-mcp",
      "env": {
        "KORA_AGENT_SECRET": "kora_agent_sk_...",
        "KORA_MANDATE_ID": "mandate_abc123",
        "KORA_BASE_URL": "https://your-kora-server.com"
      }
    }
  }
}

Restart Claude Desktop. Done.

Available tools

ToolDescription

How it works

Claude says "I need to spend $50 on AWS" → MCP server signs the request with Ed25519 → sends to Kora → 14-step deterministic pipeline → APPROVED or DENIED with actionable hint.

Every decision is cryptographically sealed. No ML. No guessing.

New to MCP?

From what the protocol is to installing your first server, these answers cover most first questions.

An open protocol that defines how AI applications connect to external tools and data in a uniform way. Clients talk to the model; MCP servers provide tools, resources and prompt templates. They exchange standard messages, so one server can be reused by many clients.
