About Lambda MCP Server
Lambda MCP Server lets teams deploy and manage AWS Lambda functions through MCP. It provides deployment configuration validation, function listing, and guided deployment prompts.
Key features
- 01Deploy Lambda functions
- 02List existing functions
- 03Guided deployment prompts
- 04Type-safe configuration validation
Use cases
- 01Deploy a configured Lambda function
- 02Review existing Lambda functions
- 03Follow guided deployment steps
MCP support
It exposes MCP tools to deploy functions and list them, plus a guided deployment prompt.
Configuration
Local server config is the same for every client. Copy it into your client’s MCP config file.
We haven’t collected a package or remote endpoint for this server. Follow the instructions in the project README.
Tools
Local servers expose tools only once running on your machine, and the maintainer has not provided a tool list.
Details

MCP Tools
Deploy Lambda Function
// Example deployment configuration
const config = {
functionName: "my-function",
runtime: "nodejs18.x",
handler: "index.handler",
memorySize: 128,
timeout: 30,
roleArn: "arn:aws:iam::123456789012:role/lambda-role",
environment: {
NODE_ENV: "production"
}
};
// Base64 encoded zip file containing the function code
const code = "base64-encoded-zip-file";
// Deploy using the MCP tool
const result = await client.callTool("deploy", { config, code });
List Functions
// List all Lambda functions
const result = await client.callTool("listFunctions", {});
Guided Deployment
// Start a guided deployment process
const prompt = await client.getPrompt("guidedDeploy", {
functionName: "my-function",
runtime: "nodejs18.x"
});
Protocol Interface
The server implements the following MCP tools:
deploy: Deploy a new Lambda functionlistFunctions: List all Lambda functionsguidedDeploy: Interactive deployment guidance
Security Considerations
- Always use HTTPS in production
- Implement proper authentication and authorization
- Rotate AWS credentials regularly
- Use environment variables for sensitive information
- Implement proper error handling and logging

New to MCP?
From what the protocol is to installing your first server, these answers cover most first questions.
An open protocol that defines how AI applications connect to external tools and data in a uniform way. Clients talk to the model; MCP servers provide tools, resources and prompt templates. They exchange standard messages, so one server can be reused by many clients.
