Key features

  1. 01Search a library of AI voices
  2. 02Generate speech as MP3
  3. 03Design voices from descriptions
  4. 04Save designed or cloned voices
  5. 05Check account and remaining characters

Use cases

  1. 01Create narration for a podcast intro
  2. 02Make a product voiceover in another language
  3. 03Design and save a character voice
  4. 04Check remaining account characters

MCP support

Lazybird provides a hosted remote MCP server over Streamable HTTP. Its tools let MCP clients search voices, generate speech, design or save voices, and check account details; sign-in uses OAuth.

Configuration

Remote servers need no local install. Pick your client, then copy the config or install in one click.

Copy install command
Claude CodeTerminal
Cursor.cursor/mcp.json
VS Code.vscode/mcp.json
Claude Desktopclaude_desktop_config.json
Windsurf~/.codeium/windsurf/mcp_config.json

Run commands in a terminal; paste JSON into the client’s MCP config and restart. Servers that need sign-in will prompt on first connect.

Lazybird MCP server

Lazybird

Make voiceovers from ChatGPT, Claude, GitHub Copilot and other MCP clients: search 500+ voices, generate MP3s, and design or clone voices. Sign in with OAuth, free to start.

Lazybird is an AI voiceover generator with 500+ voices in 150+ languages, voice cloning and a text to speech API. The free plan includes 10,000 credits a month.

This is a hosted (remote) MCP server, so there is nothing to install or run. This repository documents it.

Server URLhttps://api.lazybird.app/mcp
TransportStreamable HTTP
AuthenticationOAuth: sign in with your Lazybird account and click Allow
Registry nameio.github.lazybirdai/lazybird

The assistant never sees your password, payment details or API keys.

What it can do

ToolWhat it does
search_voicesFind a voice in the library of 500+ AI voices in 150+ languages and accents, plus your own cloned or designed voices and the ones your team shares. Filter by words (name, accent, style, use case), language and gender. Returns preview audio links.
generate_speechTurn a script into a ready-to-use MP3 in the voice you choose. Every voice can speak every language: ask for the language or accent you want.
design_voiceCreate a new voice from a description such as age, accent, tone and energy, and hear a sample line.
save_voiceAdd a designed voice to your library, or clone one from a clear 10–60 second recording of a single speaker. Only clone voices you have the right to use.
get_accountSee your plan and how many characters you have left.

Generating speech uses characters from your plan, as in the Lazybird app.

Set it up

VS Code with GitHub Copilot

Add the server to .vscode/mcp.json in your workspace (or to your user configuration):

{
  "servers": {
    "lazybird": {
      "type": "http",
      "url": "https://api.lazybird.app/mcp"
    }
  }
}

Start the server from the file or the MCP servers list, then sign in to Lazybird when asked. Lazybird's tools then show up in Copilot Chat in agent mode.

Claude

Custom connectors work on claude.ai and in Claude Desktop.

  1. Go to Customize → Connectors.
  2. Click + Add, then Add custom connector.
  3. Name it Lazybird, paste https://api.lazybird.app/mcp and click Continue.
  4. Sign in to Lazybird when asked and click Allow.
Claude Code
claude mcp add --transport http lazybird https://api.lazybird.app/mcp

Then run /mcp inside Claude Code and choose Lazybird to sign in.

ChatGPT

ChatGPT adds custom connectors through developer mode. Whether you can turn it on depends on your plan and, for work accounts, your workspace settings.

  1. In ChatGPT on the web, open Settings and turn on Developer mode.
  2. Create a new app or connector named Lazybird, paste https://api.lazybird.app/mcp and choose OAuth.
  3. Sign in to Lazybird when asked and click Allow.
Other clients

Any client that supports remote MCP servers with OAuth sign-in can use the same URL.

Things to try

  • "Find a warm British female narrator and read this intro for my podcast."
  • "Turn this product description into a 30-second voiceover in Spanish."
  • "Design a gravelly old wizard voice for my game and save it to my library."
  • "How many characters do I have left this month?"

New to MCP?

From what the protocol is to installing your first server, these answers cover most first questions.

An open protocol that defines how AI applications connect to external tools and data in a uniform way. Clients talk to the model; MCP servers provide tools, resources and prompt templates. They exchange standard messages, so one server can be reused by many clients.
