About LG Therma V MCP Server
LG Therma V MCP Server connects MCP clients to LG Therma V heat pumps over Modbus TCP. It is intended for developers and automation tools; the project is in early development and not production-ready.
Key features
- 01Modbus TCP heat pump connection
- 02LG Therma V tool access
- 03Claude Desktop configuration
- 04Early-development status
Use cases
- 01Connecting an MCP client to a Therma V heat pump
- 02Building heat-pump automation with MCP tools
MCP support
An MCP server that exposes tools for communicating with LG Therma V heat pumps over Modbus TCP.
Configuration
Local server config is the same for every client. Copy it into your client’s MCP config file.
We haven’t collected a package or remote endpoint for this server. Follow the instructions in the project README.
Tools
Local servers expose tools only once running on your machine, and the maintainer has not provided a tool list.
Details
From the project READMELG Therma V MCP Server
The LG Therma V MCP Server is a Model Context Protocol (MCP) server that provides seamless integration with Therma V heats pumps via modbus, enabling advanced automation and interaction capabilities for developers and tools.
⚠️ Note
This project is in early development and is not yet ready for production use. The API may change, and some features may not be fully implemented.

Prerequisites
- Modbus TCP connection to the LG Therma V heat pump. (such as Waveshare)
- A MCP client, such as Claude Desktop
Installation
- Grab the binary for your system from the releases page.
- Unzip the binary and optionaly place it into your path.
- Make sure the binary is executable. On Linux and Mac, you can do this by running
chmod +x lg-thermav-mcp-server.
Usage with Claude Desktop
- Copy the file
claude_desktop_config.jsonto Claude Desktop config directory.- On Mac, this is usually
/Library/Application\ Support/Claude/claude_desktop_config.json - On Linux, this is usually
~/.config/Claude/claude_desktop_config.json - On Windows, this is usually
AppData\Claude\claude_desktop_config.json
- On Mac, this is usually
- Open the
claude_desktop_config.jsonfile and change"command":"<path to lg-thermav-mcp-server>"to the path of thelg-thermav-mcp-serverbinary. - Open the
claude_desktop_config.jsonfile and change"MODBUS_URL": "<modbus-url>"to the URL of your modbus TCP connection. For example,tcp://192.168.1.10:4196 - Open Claude Desktop and start a new conversation. You should see available LG Therma V tools if everything is set up correctly.

New to MCP?
From what the protocol is to installing your first server, these answers cover most first questions.
An open protocol that defines how AI applications connect to external tools and data in a uniform way. Clients talk to the model; MCP servers provide tools, resources and prompt templates. They exchange standard messages, so one server can be reused by many clients.
