About Lincoln

Lincoln is an MCP server that gives an AI agent a private balance on Robinhood Chain for holding and moving ETH, USDG and tokenized stocks. It uses locally generated proofs and a relayer, while spend limits are checked against a local policy file.

Key features

  1. 01Private agent balance on Robinhood Chain
  2. 02Hold ETH, USDG and tokenized stocks
  3. 03Send, swap, deposit and withdraw
  4. 04Balance, quote and activity tools
  5. 05Local per-transaction and daily limits

Use cases

  1. 01Check an agent wallet balance and address
  2. 02Quote and execute a token swap
  3. 03Constrain agent spending with policy limits

MCP support

Exposes wallet, balance, quote, policy, activity and transaction tools to MCP clients. The server connects through the Lincoln CLI wallet and uses a relayer to submit locally generated proofs.

Configuration

Local server config is the same for every client. Copy it into your client’s MCP config file.

mcp.json · Universal config
{
"mcpServers": {
"lincolnprotocol-com-lincoln": {
"command": "npx",
"args": [
"-y",
"@lincolnprotocol/mcp"
],
"env": {
"LINCOLN_PASSPHRASE": "<LINCOLN_PASSPHRASE>",
"LINCOLN_HOME": "<LINCOLN_HOME>"
}
}
}
}
Run commandnpx -y @lincolnprotocol/mcp
Environment variables to set
LINCOLN_PASSPHRASESecretPassphrase that unlocks the agent wallet created by `lincoln init`
LINCOLN_HOMEWallet directory (default ~/.lincoln)

Local servers need a runtime on your machine (e.g. Node.js 18+). Config file locations differ by client; see your client’s docs.

Details

From the project README

@lincolnprotocol/mcp

MCP server that gives an AI agent its own private balance on Robinhood Chain through Lincoln. It can hold ETH, dollars and tokenized stocks, and send, swap and withdraw them. Proofs are generated on your machine and a relayer submits them, so the agent's wallet never appears on chain.

# 1. Create the agent wallet (encrypted with your passphrase)
export LINCOLN_PASSPHRASE='…'
npx @lincolnprotocol/cli init

# 2. Connect your client
claude mcp add lincoln -e LINCOLN_PASSPHRASE="$LINCOLN_PASSPHRASE" -- npx -y @lincolnprotocol/mcp
codex mcp add lincoln --env LINCOLN_PASSPHRASE="$LINCOLN_PASSPHRASE" -- npx -y @lincolnprotocol/mcp

Other clients (Claude Desktop, Cursor and others):

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "lincoln": {
      "command": "npx",
      "args": ["-y", "@lincolnprotocol/mcp"],
      "env": { "LINCOLN_PASSPHRASE": "…" }
    }
  }
}

Tools: lincoln_balance, lincoln_address, lincoln_pools, lincoln_policy, lincoln_activity, lincoln_status, lincoln_quote, and lincoln_send / lincoln_swap / lincoln_withdraw / lincoln_deposit, which take a quoteId, never raw amounts.

Spends are checked against ~/.lincoln/policy.json (per-transaction, daily and approval limits). Those limits are enforced by this software, not by the contracts, so keep only what the agent needs in its balance.

From what the protocol is to installing your first server, these answers cover most first questions.

An open protocol that defines how AI applications connect to external tools and data in a uniform way. Clients talk to the model; MCP servers provide tools, resources and prompt templates. They exchange standard messages, so one server can be reused by many clients.
