About Luke Desktop
Luke Desktop is a desktop client built with Tauri, React and TypeScript as an alternative to Claude Desktop, with MCP server support. It suits developers who want a desktop Claude interface that connects to MCP servers and who may extend the codebase.
Key features
- 01Desktop app built on Tauri 2.x
- 02Model Context Protocol server integration
- 03Plugin support
- 04Cross-platform desktop support
- 05File management and path traversal protection
Use cases
- 01Use Claude on the desktop with connected MCP servers
- 02Extend a Tauri and React desktop client codebase
MCP support
This project is an MCP client that implements the Model Context Protocol to communicate with Claude and other compatible AI models and to integrate MCP servers.
Configuration
Local server config is the same for every client. Copy it into your client’s MCP config file.
We haven’t collected a package or remote endpoint for this server. Follow the instructions in the project README.
Tools
Local servers expose tools only once running on your machine, and the maintainer has not provided a tool list.

New to MCP?
From what the protocol is to installing your first server, these answers cover most first questions.
An open protocol that defines how AI applications connect to external tools and data in a uniform way. Clients talk to the model; MCP servers provide tools, resources and prompt templates. They exchange standard messages, so one server can be reused by many clients.
